“Don’t you laugh at me!” Abaddon slapped Gabriel’s hip with the blanket before spreading it on the grass. And because he was such a perfectionist, he walked around the impromptu bed to smooth out the fabric, as if folds could have spoiled their time together.

With the air so warm and fragrant, the horrors of the Keys’ temple and worries over a difficult future retreated to the back of Gabriel’s mind, leaving it receptive. He kneeled on the soft wool, slightly nervous about his cluelessness, but he had no doubt he’d find a good shepherd in his fierce wolf.

“I love you,” he said softly, and no words could have felt more natural in his mouth.

Abaddon, who was just dropping his shoes into the grass, stilled and turned his face toward him. For a breathless moment, Gabriel’s confidence waned, but then his lover took him into arms that never stopped smelling like heat itself. Maybe because of his infernal origins?

“Me too, I love you too, I wanted to say it before, but it felt too soon—”

Gabriel melted into the embrace as if he were a candle and Abaddon the flame. By the time this night was through, he’d be a puddle of wax, forever changed by the fire scorching between their bodies.

“Deep down, I knew because our bond is beyond human understanding.” He kissed Abaddon’s soft lips, so eager to taste them. “It’s heavenly and perfect, just the way God made you.”

Abaddon shivered, but as he kissed Gabriel’s lips, sending electricity all the way down to his toes, gravity did both their bidding, and moments later they lay sprawled on the cotton-scented blanket.

“No, it’s you who is perfect. Sweet and gentle. A gift to the world,” Abaddon whispered, stretching on top of Gabriel and raining soft kisses along his neck.

There wasn’t a hint of threat in the weight trapping Gabriel under his lover. He knew this strong body’s every inch by now, and his fingers found their way to Abaddon’s sides, then his back, until Gabriel reached the hem of the T-shirt and tugged it up.

Each touch, every butterfly-light kiss was a toe-curling event that had Gabriel sinking deeper into the soft wool, but nothing excited him like the breathy sounds Abaddon made when touched. Their raspy edge said everything about his man’s desire, and Gabriel couldn’t wait to fulfill it.

While helping Abaddon get rid of the T-shirt, somehow Gabriel lost his own. No longer did he feel like an ugly duckling whose sight might hurt people’s eyes. His scars and skinny frame were a part of him, and if an angel didn’t deem them unworthy, then who was he to pass that judgment on himself?

He could sense Abaddon’s desire in every look they shared, in every touch, and every word. At Abaddon’s side, Gabriel felt like a whole person, and when they were together, his goodness made the painful past seem translucent, as if it had been an illusion all along.

Warmth slipped down his chest as Abaddon kissed bare flesh, and as his hair trailed behind lips, the tickling aggravated Gabriel’s high.

“You feel so good,” he whispered into the night with a smile on his lips. Until last month he’d hardly touched anyone, and now he got to experience a closeness that made him human again. Looking back, he could see what a hollow shell he’d been, taking his placebos and drifting through days without purpose or hope.

But now he felt alive.

Abaddon gasped when Gabriel squeezed his muscular pec. “Nothing ever felt this good. I was meant to be with you and make sure you’re safe,” he whispered and unbuttoned Gabriel’s jeans.

"And happy? And coming?" Gabriel snorted, in absolute awe of Abaddon's body when his angel stretched over him to pull off Gabriel’s pants with more ease. Gabriel raised his hips to help, nervous but not apprehensive.

Abaddon grinned, his handsome features silvery in the bright moonlight. He descended on Gabriel as soon as the pants were off, rubbing, squeezing and kissing the newly exposed flesh, as if he wanted to cover every bit of him with caresses.

“Especially that last part.”

Gabriel’s breath quickened, just like their movements, as if slowing down meant they wouldn’t be given release. Gabriel didn’t want to even think of letting go, consumed by the beauty of smooth skin painted over with intricate lines of tattoos. The silky hair. The long dark lashes over stormy eyes. The strong, muscular arms… Abaddon had been sculpted for Gabriel’s pleasure.

“I can only hope you’re getting something out of it too,” he teased.

Abaddon chuckled, grinning at him as he moved up Gabriel’s body and rubbed his cheek against the hard cock. “Do I look like I’m not enjoying myself?”

Gabriel sighed. “You look very happy, to be honest. And very handsome.”

Abaddon hummed before opening his mouth and sucking Gabriel’s cockhead through cotton. It felt like being kissed by a dozen angels, but Gabriel only wanted the one pleasuring him now.
