“Why are you up?” I asked him.

“Lucy’s sleepwalking again. Did you get her pills?”

“Yeah., I will come over,” I told him. He was silent, and I could tell he was trying to figure out whether to agree or not.

“Dad is trying to walk her back to bed without waking her. She attacked me last night when I accidentally woke her up, trying to get her back to her room,” he said.

“Be there soon,” I told him, cutting the link. She never sleep walked when here. It made me wonder if she was stressed being back home. It took me twenty minutes to get there, but Ryker was waiting out the front. Rayan must have told him.

“Finally. You’re here. I need to go to bed. Don’t wake her, she isn’t lucid when you do,” Ryker said, yawning.

“Where is she?”

“Back in bed. I got her to lie back down, but for how long, I don’t know. Between her and Reika, I am exhausted, and so is Rayan,” he said, pushing the door open wider. I walked in, heading for her room when Ryker pointed at Rayans. It was the old room I shared with Ace when I lived here.

“Don’t ask,” he said, walking upstairs to his room. I stepped inside to find her asleep on the trundle. Rayan yawned, and I placed the bottle of pills on his bedside table before lying down next to her.

“You told your father,” I whispered.

“Not about the pills. He helped me yesterday when Lucy freaked when I woke her,” he said, fluffing his pillow. I tucked the blanket up around her, and she rolled over, picking up my scent. Even in her sleep, her heart was racing. Her hands went underneath my shirt, seeking the bond, so I pulled it off before tucking her against me. Her heart rate slowed, and her breathing evened out. Tyrant relaxed inside me, finding her closeness soothing.

“I want her home. Where she belongs,” Tyrant told me, his longing and sadness slipping into me despite her being in my arms.

“I love you, Lucy,” I whispered to her, kissing her forehead. But she remained asleep, and I snuggled closer, enjoying the warmth her skin provided.

Chapter twenty-eight

Lucy

I woke up and instantly knew I was not alone in my bed. Tingles spreading everywhere, and Tyson’s scent filling my senses. I moved, pressing my face into his neck and inhaling his scent. How I missed his scent. Missed him being close. He felt like home.

“Lucy, we have to get ready for school,” Rayan whispered, shaking my shoulder. I looked up to see him dressed before moving away from Tyson.

“When did he get here?” I whispered, not wanting to wake him.

“Last night. You were sleepwalking again,” Rayan said and sighed. Usually, I just climbed in with Rayan, but now I was starting to worry it was disturbing him.

Rayan tossed me a bottle, and I saw my medication, but the bottle was full.

“Tyson?”

“Ace,” Rayan told me, and I nodded.

I quickly grabbed my uniform, changed, and rushed downstairs. The kitchen was quiet, and I decided to risk making lunch. Walking out, I froze when I saw my mother.

“Morning,” she said, all chirpy.

“Morning, mom,” I said when she suddenly walked over and hugged me. I stiffened and saw Jacob watching her before she let go.

“I made your lunch. Rayan, come grab your lunch,” she called, turning and flicking the kettle on.

“Coffee?” she asked, and I looked at Jacob, who shrugged before sliding into the stool.

“Morning, mom,” Rayan said, handing me a paper bag with my lunch. She actually packed me lunch.

“It’s not peanut butter and chutney, is it?” I asked, and she laughed.

“No. A salad sandwich and some fruit,” she said, passing me a mug of coffee.
