Searching her contacts, she pressed on Allison Bradford, Abe’s little sister. They’d spoken on the phone a few times but hadn’t met in person yet.
“Rachel,” Allison greeted her in her deep, throaty voice. “How are you?”
“I’m doing all right. Not as fabulous as you though. Abe was telling me how proud he is of you landing a co-star role with Scarlett Lily.”
“He’s a good guy, that brother of mine and thank you, I’m thrilled with the role.”
“I can’t wait to see the movie.”
“Thanks. I’ll invite you and Abe to the premier. If we can get him home. What are your thoughts on that?”
Rachel swallowed hard and admitted, “I try every time we talk. Am I just being selfish? Does he need this closure?” Her family members agreed with her that he should leave it to the private investigators, but of course they’d agree with her, they were her family.
“Preston and Angel really did a number on him.” Allison sighed. “But I don’t like seeing the bitterness oozing from that handsome mug of his. He needs to let it go. He needs to be with you.”
“Thank you. I ask him all the time. I hate being the nag, but I think he needs to let this anger go.”
“From what Abe tells me you’re the furthest thing from a nag. He adores you.”
“Thanks.” She paused then revealed the reason behind her call, “I have an idea. If I fly to California, would you do a short video with me to try to reach and help Abe? My siblings and I have some pretty great connections, add their reach to your social media, and we’ll make sure it goes viral.” The very thought of doing this video made cold sweat pop on the back of her neck but she wanted to help Abe. She’d do anything to help him overcome his anger and be whole again.
“Of course. What are you thinking?”
“Let’s do a double-whammy. Spread the word about Preston and Angel and get them caught and show Abe exactly how much we both love him and need him to come home.”
Allison didn’t hesitate. “I’m in.”
