I didn’t even know he knew I existed.
An expense account… A thrill of shock went through her. She’d always dreamed of having an expense account, like all the senior managers. Maybe she’d been worried too much. Maybe this was completely legit, and they’d recognized how dedicated she was to their clients.

Alice picked up before the first ring even ended. “It was so weird. I thought Robert was pulling my leg or something, but then he just waited until I pulled together a whole expense account package and everything. You’ll have your business Amex card on Monday.”
“Wait.” Moving aside to let the people go around her, she angled her body for privacy. “Tell me what happened from the beginning.”
Alice took a deep breath. “Robert called me,personally, and asked to have an expense account set up for you.” Then she whispered incredulously, “It’s three times Hailey’s.” She went back to her normal voice. “He said we needed to make sure you had enough money for your romantic dinners since it looked like love was in the air. Then he chuckled in that lewd way he has and said that you must have hidden talents to pull off such a serious romance.”
