“Come on, it’s time to go.” Blaze held out his hand to help me up, and I smiled back, giving him a silent thank you. The look he shot over at Damon and his crew confused me a little, like he was pissed off at the scene he was watching. I wanted nothing more than to get out of this place at this moment. The more Damon carried on, the harder it became to watch.
“You’re playing with fire mamacita.” Madden warned his voice deep, with a hint of something sinister.
Looking over my shoulder, I’m immediately met with the hardened gaze that had become so familiar since I’d met Damon, but rarely used on myself. It was like a punch to the gut. The constant push and pull that we had going on between us was both a blessing and a curse. For every good moment we had, there was always something that laid in wait to destroy it. We got off on hurting each other.
“It’s not like he would even care,” my lips barely moved, as I whispered back to him, once again trying to hide the hurt from my voice.
“He will fucking kill Blaze if he thinks something is going on between you two Mamacita,” Madden drawled. Blaze wrapped his arms around my waist, he pulled me against himself as he led me out of my cell. The warmth of his breath against my neck, made me shiver as he spoke into the mic he had now put down the front of my dress.
“Then maybe he should have kept his hands to himself if he wanted her to believe they were something more.” Blaze shot back to Madden before killing the link. “I know its hard Paige, but you are better than that, don’t let your mask slip because of him.”
I couldn’t help but smile at the moment, at least someone was looking out for me, even if it was someone I still considered as the enemy. After all they say all is fair in love and war, I just didn’t think that I’d only be at war.
