“Yeah, can you bring me a large protein drink and Anna a strawberry shake?”
“Sure. We’ll be there in a bit.”
“Thank you.” He handed the phone back to her.
“You didn’t have to do that,” she said.
“I saw how much you enjoyed it. Besides, you’re probably going to have to share some with me.”
She laughed. “I’d share anything with you.”
He chuckled when she blushed. “Come and lie down beside me while we wait.”
“Oh, I’m afraid I’d hurt you.”
“You won’t. Come on, I’ve been dreaming of holding you.” He moved over.
She carefully crawled up beside him, laid her head on his shoulder, and set her hand on his chest. He sighed and hugged her tighter against his side. It was perfect having her against him.
“Are you comfortable?” he asked.
“Yes. Are you hurting at all?”
“No.” He relaxed and went back to watching the game. He could tell when she fell asleep, and it was the perfect feeling in the world. He hadn’t realized he’d fallen asleep until the swish of the door woke him. He grinned when he saw Travis, Kane, and Trey come through the door.
Travis and Kane grinned while Trey’s eyebrows rose in surprise.
“Leave it to him to find a beautiful woman while he’s in the hospital,” Trey said, making them all laugh.
The sound woke Anna up, and she blinked at him groggily.
“The guys are here with your shake, baby,” Zachary said.
She struggled to sit up and then froze when she saw all the men standing in the room.
“Oh, God.”
He tightened his grip on her and tipped her head up to see him. “Don’t. Everything is okay.”
She sighed and then nodded.
Anna sat him up a bit more, and Kane handed him his shake and then gave her the strawberry one.
“Thank you, Kane.”
“You’re welcome, sweetheart,” Kane said.
“Baby, this other guy is Trey. He works with us.”
“Oh, well, um…”
“I know he looks like Bigfoot, but he’s a pretty decent guy.”
Trey snorted. “Wow, thanks, man.”
Zackary chuckled. “You’re welcome.”
“It’s nice to meet you,” Anna said.
