His throat bobs. A thick vein protruding, pulsing. I had the urge to bite it. “Know what happens to prisoners?”

I shake my head slowly from side to side.

He angled his head, eyes wild, slightly out of focus. That strong jaw my target. So sharp he could cut a diamond with it.

Our eyes locked.

“They break.”

My stomach revolts, but I don’t dare look away even as he pulls me closer, forcing his legs between my thighs. Panting, lots of it. I wasn’t sure if it was him or me.

His strong hands find the back of my head and wind themselves into my hair angling it up toward him. Eyes beady and black.

“Ibreak things,” he rasps out.

A hot chill broke over me. His stark gaze making my stomach flip. Lips pursing, he thinks he’s won. Little did he know my innocence had been ruptured at an early age.

I’d been dead inside for a long time.

“I’m already shattered.” My voice is sparse, scratchy.

I felt his chest heave in, slow and deep. Eyes brimming with raw emotion. Something dark twisting inside that beautiful mind of his.

Cole’s face dropped to my mouth, nostrils flaring. I watch with heated anticipation.

His mouth creases in indecision before he bit out a sneer. My chest rose and fell. The suspense earsplitting. A shadow cast over his eyes before doing the unthinkable. Leaning down, he kisses me without remorse or guilt.

His strong mouth finally giving me what I desperately wanted. A strangled noise erupted from his throat like he’d had the same thought.

My breath splinters when he arches my neck higher. Forcing my mouth open wider so he can shove his tongue down my throat. I force myself not to groan in approval. The kiss, like his mouth, is savagely intense.

His body felt hot to the touch. I’m crazed for playing with fire even though I knew it would burn. Dragging his teeth, he pulled at my bottom lip, and I whimpered. Understanding why Madison had liked it so much at his party.

It was possessive and erotic.

The spot between my legs growing damp with need, the longer his tongue stroked mine.

I didn’t want to pull away, but I do. Feeling his phone buzz again. Both of us still panting trying to control our sated breaths.

“You-you should probably get that,” I gulp, wheezing.

He nods, not taking his eyes off me. His mouth goes slack looking down at my lips. I knew they were puffy and swollen.

Not looking to see who was calling, he hits answer. Growling into the receiver. “You better be dying.”

Then...

“WhowantsaFudgesicle?”

I raise my head from my book hearing Lorna’s yell from where the patio meets the lawn.

The weather was nice today. A bit on the warmer side for this time of the month but there was a nice breeze where I was sitting underneath the long spindling branches of the tree, so it wasn’t as bad.

It beats sitting in my room for another whole day. This spot also gave me the perfect vantage point of where Finn and Cole were messing around. A bit past the pool in a wide-open area of grass.
