I roll my eyes. Cole neverasksfor anything. He makes orders and expects everyone else to follow.

I jut out my chin defiantly. “That’s not an answer.”

He rests his hip against the edge of the desk crossing his ankles, enjoying himself. “It’s the answer you get.”

That carnal-looking Cole that stormed into my room, gone. Replaced now with the overconfident jackass I knew and despised.

“Tell me why you need it.”

“No.”

“Yes!” I spitfire right back.

“Rory.”

“Cole.”

I was dancing with the devil himself and I didn’t care. I could go all night. I’m not the one who needed it.

Just when I think I’ve got him, he switches tactics. “I thought you didn’t want to come.”

“I don’t,” I snit, angling my heel into the ground.

“So, give me the card.”

“No can do, Iceman.” Adding an extra gusto at the end.

If I thought Cole was temperamental before. Now he was borderline deranged. “Why not.”

“Don’t want to.”

Cole sighs, scratching at his eyebrow in agitation. “Why don’t you want to.”

Because for once I have something you want.

I shrug, downplaying my emotions. “Not my problem.”

“It could be,” he says easily.

“Why would I want that?”

Cole bounces a shoulder, indifferent. I don’t move. Blind to his motives.

“I’m giving you a chance to make your own decision,” he expresses when I still don’t answer.

Cole groans, spinning. I must have taken too long to decide. Grabbing, he reaches for my book bag, turning it upside down and dumping all the contents out.

My things going everywhere jolting me back to life like I was probed with a cattle prod.

“You think I would be stupid enough to leave something like that lying around?” I mutter. Watching as he digs through the clutter he made on my desk.

I didn’t think the key card was that important. Still, I was smart enough to not leave it on me in the off chance it fell out of my bag, and I lost it.

The muscles in Cole’s back stiffen before he whips around. “Where is it? Show me.”

Feeling smug, I reach down, opening the drawer to my nightstand. Removing the red worn leather book and flip it open, pulling out the card.

It was so satisfying feeling Cole’s hawklike eyes on me the entire time tracking my every move. Having something he wanted. Dangling the card in front of me, I close the drawer with my hip.
