“Sawyer,” Dad called out.

At the sound of Dad’s voice, Sawyer startled, then stood up and turned around to face us. A faint thread of shock traveled across his features when he saw me, but he pasted on a friendly smile almost immediately, before my father could notice, and closed the distance between us.

“Marcie,” Dad said as Sawyer stepped closer. “Meet my new business partner, Denton Sawyer. And Denton, this is my daughter, Marcie Davenport.”

“Clive’s told me a lot about you,” Sawyer—Denton said as he stepped closer. He rested a big hand on my shoulder and pulled me in closer. “Can I hug you? I feel like I know you already.”

I nodded weakly, still trying to process this crazy twist of fate. “Absolutely.”

Denton drew me closer and I awkwardly patted his back as he wrapped his arms around me. Carefully, to avoid attracting my Dad’s attention, he nuzzled into my hair and took a deep breath.

“It’s good to see you again,” he whispered in my ear.

Denton Sawyer wasn’t just some guy, or my dad’s new business partner. Iknewthat face, those arms and that big, tall body. All of him. Intimately.

He was my mystery man.

And I was well and trulyfucked.

Chapter Six

Denton

Holy shit.

Holyshit.

I wasn’t sure whether to laugh or run screaming into the ocean, never to be heard from again. My mystery woman, my fantasy come to life, my walking erotic dream—she wastheMarcie Davenport, my business partner’s daughter, and I held her in my arms again, right in front of her clueless dad. The night after we fucked and feasted on each other for hours in a hotel room just a block away.

Holy shit.

I brushed a soft kiss on her cheek, unable to resist the lure of her porcelain skin, and then released her. She stepped back, wobbling ever-so-slightly as she gusted out a breathless, nervous laugh.

“It’s so good to meet you,” she said with a smile, though her eyes were a bit panicked. “Dad thinks really highly of you.”

I cocked my head and gave her a long, meaningful look. If the universe had deigned to bring us together again, I wasn’t going to waste this gift. “I hope you feel the same after you get to know me.”

Marcie tucked her hair behind an ear with slightly shaking fingers and drew in a deep breath. “I’m sure I will.”

“Sawyer’s going to be spending the bulk of his time out here if we move forward with a building that we’re looking at nearby,” Clive said as he slung an arm around his daughter’s shoulders and led her over to my table.

I spun around and pulled a chair out for her, and she slumped down gratefully, her wide, disbelieving eyes still fixed on me.

“I’ll grab some coffees and another chair,” Clive said. “Be right back.”

As he walked away to the short line at the counter, I turned to Marcie, a grateful smile on my face as my eyes raked her up and down. She wore jeans and a sweater, and even though the outfit was casual and far less revealing than her flimsy dress the night before, it suited her, and the soft fabric flowed smoothly over the gorgeous curves I had intimate, carnal knowledge of. She looked fresh and so beautiful that my heart ached.

I knew she was upset, but at that moment, I couldn’t find any emotion but relief that she wasn’t really gone for good.

“I’m so glad to see you again,” I said quietly. “You didn’t have to sneak out this morning.”

She sucked in a quick breath as she looked over at her dad. “I thought it was just a one-night thing.”

I shrugged and leaned back in my chair. “I thought so too, but now I’m not sure.”

She hesitated, worrying on her lush bottom lip. “We can talk about this later.”

“Yeah, we will,” I promised her. “You can bet on it.”
