“You’re welcome. Is there anything else I can get you?” she asked.
“I think I’m good for now.”
“I’ll check back on you in a few minutes to see if there is anything else you need,” she said before walking away.
Adam removed the cover from the tray and found a variety of freshly cooked seafood and steaks. His favorite. He really didn’t know what he would do without Vicki always looking out for him and taking care of him. He had been seriously lucky to meet her and her family. She was like a mother to him. She had an uncanny ability to know exactly what he needed, when he needed it.
Before he knew it, he had wolfed down two full trays of food and three cans of soda. It would give him the energy he needed later to track Joy and find out exactly what the hell was going on.

Adam hadno idea what time it was or how close they were to Florida. He looked out the window and saw the clear skies below. He could see that the houses below were growing larger in size, so they must have started their descent. He checked his watch and saw that it was just past seven in the morning.
“Good morning, Mr. Caldwell. We have about an hour till we land. I’ll have your breakfast right out for you. If you’d like a few minutes to freshen up, now’s your chance.”
“Thanks.” He unbuckled his seat belt and stood, stretching his arms above his head. He grabbed his bag before making his way back to the lavatory. Because it was a private jet, the oversized lavatory had a personal shower and everything he needed.
Taking a quick shower, Adam toweled off and dug through his bag. Vicki had truly thought of everything that he would need for the trip. He grabbed a fresh pair of jeans and a T-shirt, along with clean socks and underwear.
When he headed back to his seat, Beverly met him with plates filled with food and a carafe of fresh coffee.
“Thank you. You have taken such good care of me,” he said, truly appreciative for all of her help.
“You are very welcome. Now, eat up before we land,” she ordered, reminding him of Vicki.
“Yes, ma’am.” Adam didn’t argue with her. Instead, he poured himself a cup of coffee before digging into the steaming eggs, bacon, and sausage. He shoveled the food into his mouth while his thoughts remained on his mate. He forced himself to chew each bite and swallow. The tedious motions kept him from losing his cool and freaking out over things he couldn’t control.
Impatience was starting to get the best of him. He wanted to be on the ground, searching for Joy. The sooner, the better. Every second he was stuck on the plane was that much longer that she was in the hands of whoever had kidnapped her. His bear was clawing at his mind, trying to force his way to the front. The animal knew his mate was in danger. He felt it with every fiber of his being.
“Can I take your tray now? We’ll be landing in a few minutes,” Beverly said.
“Yes. Thank you.” Adam buckled his seat belt and prepared for landing.
His foot tapped impatiently against the floor until he felt the wheels touch down on the runway. Once the plane slowed to a stop, he unclicked his belt and grabbed his bag.
“Ms. Wilder is waiting for you in the black SUV. She will fill you in on everything. Good luck.”
“Thanks,” Adam said.
