Tears spring to my eyes, and I blink them away quickly, embarrassed I’m so emotional. I should be smiling, not crying!

“How did you know they’re my favorite?” The men I dated before all brought me roses.

“I saw you lingering over that stationery with the daisy print in Japan,” Griffin says.

“I did?” I blink.

“You did.” He places the bouquet into my arms.

How much does this man love me that he remembers events I don’t even recall, and I don’t have to say a word for him to know what I like?

“Thank you.” I kiss his cheeks, then his mouth.

I push my tongue past his lips, gliding inside and stroking his, teasing and seducing. He wraps his arms around me. I press myself closer, starved for him. His erection presses against my belly, and…

Something else?

I pull back a little, wondering about the hard lump pressing against my thigh.

He looks down, then exhales roughly. “I got the order of events mixed up. Too excited.”

“No, no, excitement is good. I’m excited too.” I smile, happy anticipation flooding my body like honey.

“Yeah, but mixing this up wouldn’t be.” He grows serious, even more serious than usual, then pulls out a small velvet box from his pocket and drops to one knee.

“Oh my—”

“Sierra Fullilove, will you marry me?”

He opens the lid, and my hands fly to my mouth. A diamond larger than my fingernail sits on an elegant platinum band. Light reflects on the emerald-cut stone, sparkling like a brilliant dream.

“—God,” I breathe out, then blink several times, my face heating with emotion. “Yes. Yes, yes. A bazillion times yes.”

He pops the ring out of the box and starts to slide it on my finger. I watch, then flinch, pulling my hand back as I remember something.

He looks at me questioningly, a small frown on his face.

“I, uh, haven’t disclosed a little condition that comes with being my husband. I don’t want it to come back to haunt us later, so I should come clean now.”

Griffin’s expression goes from serious to grim.

“I’m not changing my mind!” I add hurriedly.

He doesn’t seem that reassured. “Then why won’t you let me put the ring on?”

Of course he’s focused on that.I put my hands on his shoulders and pull at him to get up. It isn’t a topic I want to discuss while he’s kneeling. I lead him to a couch and we sit down. He remains stiff.

“I just need to tell you this so there’s no surprise.”

“I’m already surprised,” he points out.

I pat his chest, trying to make him feel better. But the longer I stay silent, the more tense he becomes. “There is a prenup you have to sign. It’s not me, it’s my grandmother’s wish. She didn’t want the company’s control to be diluted, and she insisted that whoever I marry sign a prenup, giving up all claims to Silicone Dream.”

“Is that all?” He relaxes. “That’s more than fine. Where do I sign?”

“Well, I have to get it from my lawyer first.”

He raises an eyebrow. “Guess we’ll have to make an appointment, then.” He clears his throat. “There is something I have to tell you, too. It’ll probably reassure you that I have no interest in Silicone Dream or your money. I’ve made some decent investments over the years, and they’ve grown quite a bit.”
