Her hands moved along his back, lighting up his skin everywhere she touched. “It’s okay. How about you let me sleep in tomorrow and we’ll call it even?”

They wouldn’t be even. Not close to it. Still, he kissed the top of her head. “Deal. And I’m going to make you sleep well tonight. I promise.”

He kissed her again, but he didn’t stop this time. He kissed her forehead and nose and cheeks. He let his mouth play along the curve of her neck and his tongue trace her collarbone. She breathed deep, the act bowing her back and offering her breasts up in an invitation he wasn’t about to refuse.

She shuddered when he kissed her breasts, light teasing things right before he sucked the nipple into his mouth and gave her the slightest edge of his teeth.

She gasped and her nails dug into his shoulders. That tiny bite went straight through his system, making him tighten again. He moved to her other breast, lavishing it with as much affection as he’d given the first. Her hands moved to his hair, stroking him like he was some domesticated beast.

She could definitely domesticate him.

She kicked off the sandals she was wearing, and Major helped her out of her jeans until she wore nothing but a silky pair of underwear that already showed signs that Brynn was ready to get into that bed.

He stood and picked her up again.

Brynn gasped and smiled up at him. “You like to do that.”

“I do.” He crossed to the bed. “When I want to get you alone, I’ll pick you up and run away from everyone else. You know I do like a good run. But I promise to be careful where I do it from now on, especially after a rain.”

At the time, he hadn’t realized how much his life would change simply because she’d shown up to drag him out of the mud.

He laid her out on the bed, her body bathed in the golden glow from the lamp. She was a treasure, and he intended to forget everything but her, at least for one night.

“Kiss me again, Major. I love it when you kiss me.” She reached out to him, the gesture asking him to join her.

But if he got on that bed with her, things would be over far too fast, and he needed to show his silver-screen goddess how a small-town guy could worship her. “I’m going to kiss you. All night and all over.”

He gently took both of her ankles in his hands and tugged her down the bed until she was in the perfect position before dropping to his knees. She was gorgeous, every inch of her silky skin on display for him.

He started with her feet, kissing his way up one leg, down the other, and back again. He dragged her underwear down her legs and tossed then aside. He breathed her in, the scent of her arousal flooding his senses. He lowered his head to her core and let himself taste her, loving the way she writhed beneath him, whimpering and calling out his name. He didn’t stop until he felt her tighten and release, and then it was time for him.

He stood, licking his lips to savor every bit of her sweetness as he kicked off his boots and shoved down his jeans. Before tossing them aside, he extracted the condom he’d pocketed before he’d come over.

She looked up at him with languid eyes. “You were pretty sure of yourself.”

He might have felt bad except for the grin on her face. “I was sure I was going to beg. I was sure I was going to try.”

She moved back, her head finding the pillow while he took the time to protect them both, then she held out her arms. “I’m so glad you decided to try. I want to stay with you while I’m here. Your place, this cabin, a tent in the woods, doesn’t matter, as long as we’re together.”

He agreed. He would steal every minute he could have with her. Hell, he might take some time off, be selfish for once. He climbed onto the bed, onto her welcoming body, her legs winding around him.

He kissed her as he joined them together, thrusting in gently, and then harder as instinct took over. She matched him, the lazy look coming off her face as his kisses became more passionate, his body driving into hers. He wanted it to last, but she felt too good around him. When she tightened her legs and cried out, he couldn’t help it anymore. He let himself go, let himself feel every second of pleasure she had to offer him.

He fell on her, pressing her into the mattress and letting his head rest against hers.

Her arms came around him, holding him tight. “I’m kind of glad I found you out there and not some other woman.”
