“Marley, will you spend forever with me? Will you be my wife?”
“Hell yes!” I hear shouted, and I don’t have to turn around to know it’s Cameron. He’s been supportive of us from the beginning. I didn’t know that this is where we would end up that night in the restaurant when Eli told him we were doing this. That we were dating.
Eli chuckles. “I think he approves.”
“Wouldn’t matter,” I say, over the lump in my throat. “I love you.”
“You’re killing me here, baby.”
“Yes.” I nod. “Yes, yes, yes, I’ll marry you.” He stands and engulfs me in a hug so tight, so fierce I’m not sure either of us is breathing, but that’s okay. His arms are around me, and that’s my favorite place to be.
Eli pulls out of our embrace and slides the ring on my finger. It’s huge and sparkling, and it’s a symbol of our love. I blink hard and turn my gaze to him. “I love you.”
“Marley Morrison,” he replies. “Has a nice ring to it.”
“I can’t believe you had this planned the entire time.”
“I’ve had that ring for a couple of months,” he confesses.
“Seriously?”
“Yeah, I was just waiting for the right time.”
“Tonight has been perfect.”
“Just wait until we get home.” He wags his eyebrows, making me laugh.
“Boy, I always knew you were trouble.”
“Good trouble?”
“The best kind of trouble.”
