“What is? Come on, Katie. Not all motorcycle clubs are like the ones our fathers were in.”

Like the one my father still is in. Hell, he’s running it.

I swallow hard.

“You don’t think that their motorcycle club has mafia ties, do you?”

“I don’t know. I don’t think so, but it’s not exactly a question I can just come out and ask. But, ah, back to Allie, they all dated her. It was a few years ago, and Rob mentioned I could meet her one day, but I don’t. I don’t want to meet her, and I don’t like thinking about her.”

“It’s never fun to meet an old flame.”

“I know, but I’m weirded out because I hate the thought of her having been with all of them. Not at the same time, but… I have no reason to be so dead set against her, not like I am. I just hate that she was with them all.”

“It sounds like it was different,” Erika says slowly.

“Different from what?”

“Well, you said it wasn’t at the same time. They didn’t really share her, you know?”

“I know, but that Gabe was with her, Zac, Ace, that shouldn’t bother me.” I exhale loudly. “And it does.”

“Hmm.”

“And you want to know more about the other guys? Get in line. I do too. I mean, you want to get to know your friends better, right?”

“So they aren’t bullying you anymore, huh?”

“Because of good ole Allie.” I hate the resentment and bitterness in my voice.

“Do you just want to be friends with the others?” Katie asks.

“Yes, of course. Just friends. Nothing more.”

But I might be lying.

No. I can’t be. I don’t know the other guys well enough.

Actually, I know Ace's baggage too. I understand him, and I can only sympathize with Gabe about what happened to him. Zac's the mystery.

“I don’t know. Maybe I’m just a slut who wants to have as many big, strong, tough guys around her in case she ever needs protection.”

“You aren’t a slut for being attracted to several guys at the same time. There’s no harm in looking.”

I snort. “Would you want any of your four guys to be out there, looking?”

“Okay, you have a point there. Just talk to Rob.”

“About all this? About the massage and being turned on? No way!”

“Then maybe talk to the other guys. Tell Ace that kiss won’t ever happen again, and maybe don’t let Gabe put his hands on you.”

“Easier said than done,” I mumble.

“You really think so?”

“I think Gabe’s the kind of guy to be tempting as all hell.”

“Those are the best kind of guys.”
