I have no idea what she’s talking about, but maybe Brett senses that we need some girl time alone because he volunteers himself and the guys to head out and pick us up some dessert. They file out, and Erika and I talk about anything and everything under the sun. We’re laughing and crying, and I go into more details about the bullying, and she admits that her guys actually bullied her at first. Talk about crazy because each and every single one of them is absolutely crazy and devoted to her, just as she is to all of them in return.

As I finally settle on the couch to sleep that night, I can’t believe Erika can have sex with any and all of these guys whenever she wants, but Erika is clearly very happy.

She’s found her freedom. I just hope I can find mine. Granted, she’s also found love. I don’t necessarily need love. Liberty would be enough for me, thanks.

CHAPTER13

Although I will admitthat I’m worried I’ll wake up during the night to hear some kind of sex romp going on in the other room whether an orgy affair or not, I’m surprised when I wake the next morning because of Erika shaking me.

“Wake up, Katie,” she says. “You’ve been sleeping for almost ten hours. Let’s go!”

“Go? Where?” I sit up groggily and rub my eyes.

“You and I are going for a short walk to an amazing little café for breakfast,” she says happily.

“You are way too chipper in the morning,” I grumble.

She giggles.

“Must be from sleeping next to so many cocks,” I tease.

“What do cocks have to do with happiness?” she demands, hands on hips.

I grin at her but don’t answer verbally.

She throws her hands up in the air. “I didn’t—”

I hold up a hand. “I don’t need to know.”

“You have two minutes to get ready,” she says as she breezes to the door.

Grumbling all the while, I change my outfit. I showered before conking out last night, and my hair is a bit curlier than normal from air drying, but I look passable.

We head on out, leaving my car and her bike behind.

“Is this place that good that it warrants walking to?” I ask.

“Without a doubt,” she says with a mischievous grin, but her expression quickly turns somber. “I thought you might be more willing to talk about your family if it was just you and me.”

I grimace. “Kyle… I haven’t talked to him in a bit,” I admit, “but I’m sure he’s fine.”

“Your mom?”

“Still off in Europe, but I think it’s starting to get to her. She needs stability right now, and going around from city to city isn’t exactly helping her, especially since she knows only a little bit of Spanish and next to no French or German.”

“What do you think she’ll do?”

“Honestly, I have no idea, but I want her to stay there.” I bite my lower lip. “If I have to transfer—”

“You want to transfer?”

“No,” I admit. “My classes are tough, but my professors are all fair, and I’m learning a lot already. I’m still not getting along with Lauren all that well, but she’s nothing compared to some of the roommates my friend Robyn has had.”

“Really?”

“Yes. Her freshman roommate was never there like at all ever during the entire semester. She basically paid for room and board so that her parents wouldn’t figure out that she was living with her boyfriend off campus. Well, one time, Robyn was getting it on with Derrick or maybe Jason, I’m not sure which, but they were naked in her bed, fooling around. They were a bit loud so they didn’t hear the door being unlocked, and her roommate Sue walked in on them, freaked out, and turned right back around and left.”

“Well, that happens,” Erika says.
