“Hey, baby. Did you have a good night?” She nods, reaching up and pressing her lips against mine.
“Did you?”
“Yeah, it was good to get out and unwind for a bit. Did you get plied with Sav’s cocktails?” She laughs.
“Yeah, just one or two!”
“What’s going on with Sav and Brody?” I ask as Savannah throws her arms around Brody.
She laughs. “She’s bad at keeping secrets, that’s what,” she says cryptically.
“She told you, didn’t she?” Brody says to Savannah as he pulls out of her embrace. There’s a smile on his face and Savannah nods.
“She didn’t want to. I kind of guessed. We got to talking about who wanted kids and I could tell by her face.” Savannah’s practically bouncing on the spot, a huge grin on her face.
“What’s going on?” I whisper in Aria’s ear, and she shivers as my breath hits her skin.
“I think you’re about to find out.”
“I’m so happy for you, Brode. I can’t wait to be an aunty.”
“Quinn’s pregnant?” Josh says, and Brody nods. “That’s great news!”
“We only found out last night. We were going to wait to tell everyone until after the doctor’s appointment next week. Seems Savannah worked it out,” he says on a laugh.
“Congratulations, man,” I tell him, leaving Aria’s side and pulling him into a hug. Glancing at Quinn on the sofa, I see she’s fast asleep. “Seems the exhaustion is kicking in already.” I remember the first few weeks after Zara found out she was pregnant with Jacob. She could pretty much fall asleep standing up and rarely made it past 9 p.m.
“I’d better get her home,” Brody says as he scoops a sleeping Quinn into his arms.
“Have you been drinking?” Savannah asks, a frown on her face.
“I’ve only had one beer. I’m good, and the truck’s just outside. See you all tomorrow,” he says as he carries her out of the sitting room.
“Another drink, Aria?” Savannah asks.
“Can I just get a soda? I think I’ve had enough alcohol for tonight.”
“Lightweight!” she exclaims as she leaves the sitting room, pulling Josh along with her.
“Seems we’re alone,” I whisper, leaning over and snaking my hand into her hair, pulling her mouth to mine. Kissing her, I swipe my tongue across her bottom lip, and she opens up to me. I feel her wind her arms around my neck as her tongue duels with mine. She tastes of orange juice, alcohol, and Aria, and I can’t get enough of her. Pulling out of the kiss, I rest my forehead on hers as I catch my breath.
“Stay with me tonight?” I whisper. “I want to wake up with you in my arms.” I feel her sigh, and I close my eyes as I wait for her to say no.
“Okay,” she says, so quietly I wonder if I’ve heard her wrong. I lift my head and search her eyes with mine.
“Was that a yes?” I ask, and she nods. Smiling, I drop my lips back to hers and I’m soon lost in her again. Hearing someone clear their throat, I reluctantly stop kissing her. She drops her head on my chest, seemingly embarrassed to be caught making out. I chuckle as I wrap my arms around her and glance up to see Josh and Savannah standing in the doorway.
“We interrupting?” Josh asks with a wink.
“Actually, yes—” I begin.
“No, of course not,” Aria rushes out, interrupting me. “We were just…” She trails off, and Savannah laughs.
“Going at it in our living room?” she jokes.
“You’re doing it all wrong if that’s how you’re having sex,” Aria says, her voice deadpan, and I burst out laughing. “Maybe Josh needs some tips?”
“No tips needed thanks, Aria,” he says, pulling Savannah against him. “We’re good.”
