My eyes trailed from his beautiful eyes to the broad shoulders, and down the abs his tight T-shirt hinted at beneath the leather vest. Blatantly obvious, I paused on his zipper before finishing the beer in my hand.

I couldn’t be sure, but I thought Ogun swore under his breath.

The sky was darkening, and the party seemed to be picking up steam. It had gone from people standing around in groups, casually drinking, to someone cranking the music up and some risqué behavior.

Behavior that was oddly turning me on.

I hadn’t realized how engrossed I was in watching one of the women on her knees in front of the guys in the lawn chairs until a hot breath blew across my ear. “You like watching?”

It dawned on me that my eyes had been locked on Chains as the woman gave him head. My face burned with both mortification at being caught staring and with how hot it made me.

“Do you have a bathroom I can use?” I asked suddenly. My voice was breathless, and I tried to ignore the husky chuckle that he released across my neck.

“Sure. This way,” he said as he led me into what looked like a large metal building. I’d expected it to be a shop, since the place was out on the edge of a farm. Inside, it couldn’t have been further from a shop. There was a large open space with couches scattered around, an oval bar in the center, and tables that surrounded it.

The high ceiling spanned the entire building, but it appeared to be well-insulated and ended at one end where a wall had been constructed. A set of stairs went up in the center. We headed in that direction.

When I tried to go into one of the two doors next to the stairs that saidrestroom, he tugged my hand. “Trust me. You don’t wanna use either of those.”

Confused, I looked over my shoulder as he guided me down a hall under the stairs that I hadn’t noticed at first. There were a couple of closed doors, but we passed them. The short hall came to a T, and we took a right.

It was almost like walking down a hotel hall with doors on either side. At the third door on the left, he stopped and pulled out his keys. After unlocking the door, he swung it open, flipped on the light, and motioned for me to go in.

It was like a dorm room. A bed with a dark comforter, a single nightstand, a dresser with a huge mirror, flat-screen TV mounted to the wall, and a scarred-up desk with a basic office chair.

“Is this where you live?” I asked him as I checked out the sparse furnishings.

“When I need to stay here,” he said from where he leaned on the doorframe. His heated gaze followed my every movement. “Bathroom is through that door.”

“Oh. Thanks,” I said before rushing in and closing the door. Leaning on the back of it for a moment, I tried to calm my racing heart.

Jesus. What have I gotten myself into? Not that I hadn’t seen worse growing up, but it hadn’t affected me like it had outside. Then, I’d been able to ignore it. Now, I’d found myself unable to look away and I’d been incredibly turned on.

After several large breaths, I finished my business and washed my hands in the pedestal sink. Taking a second to check out the small space, I realized it was utilitarian, but efficient. Shower, no tub, small cabinet between the toilet and small sink, mirror over the sink. No decorations or personal touches.

Taking a peek in the cabinet, I saw a stack of neatly folded towels and washcloths. A razor, toothbrush, toothpaste, and travel size of cologne were all that spoke of someone actually staying in there.

Through the frosted shower door, I could see what was likely a bottle of shampoo and another bottle. That was it. No personalization in the small room, either.

Figuring I’d been in there long enough, I opened the door.

Ogun sat in the office chair doing something on his phone but looked up as soon as the door swung open. Without a word, he slipped it inside his vest. My eyes darted to the closed door and back to the intense man who was standing.

“It’s not locked. If you want to go, feel free,” he said in a tone that dared me to stay.

This ridiculously out of character part of me wanted things I shouldn’t. It wanted him to unleash the beast I could see simmering in his eyes. It was a wild and fleeting thought that I assumed was mine alone.

Or I did until his hand shot out, spanning the front of my throat. His grip was firm, but not painful. Panic slithered through me for a second before his gaze dropped to my mouth, which had parted on a gasp.

He pulled me toward him, and our lips met in a demanding kiss. It was one I was fully and brazenly participating in.

And it was so incredibly good. Mind-blowing.

When he broke free and dropped his head to rest his forehead on mine, I reached up to grasp the arm that still held me.

“What are you doing?” I whispered and swallowed, knowing he could feel my throat move.

“Kira.” He said my name like it was a prayer. “I’ve never been one to beat around the bush before. You wanna fuck? Or you wanna go back out there and drink?”
