“You can feel it, and everyone around us can feel it too,” I continued. “Candace had only met you once before she knew it. My friend Charlie hasn’t even met you and he knows I’m in deep.”

Helen took a step back, but she didn’t look shocked. She witnessed me begging her to stay the other night. I was only telling her what she already knew.

“I was scared at first. I felt like I was falling too fast, and I didn’t want a repeat of Sabrina,” I told her.

Helen looked down.

“But you’re nothing like Sabrina.” I closed the distance and grabbed her chin, forcing her to look into my eyes. “You’re nothing like Amber. You’re nothing like any woman I have ever met. I shouldn’t have been scared of those feelings.”

“Look what you did for Candace, today,” I told her. “I trust you and I am so thankful to have you in my life.”

“Brenton,” she whispered.

“Shh.” I hushed her by putting my lips to hers, with so much affection and gratitude.

Our kiss stopped me in my tracks. It wasn’t like the previous ones we shared. Now, we were both fully aware of our feelings for one another, and I only wanted to be closer. I needed to be as close as humanly possible to her.

I grabbed her legs beneath her knees and hoisted her up, my palms resting square on her ass. I carried her outside towards the hottub. Once there, I lowered her onto our reclined pool chair, the same one we’d used a few weeks ago. Helen laid back, allowing me to pull her pants down to reveal a lacey red thong.

“Red lingerie looks so good on you, baby.”

“Should we be doing this with Candace right upstairs?”

“Did you not hear her snoring? She’s fast asleep right now.”

“Oh,” she mumbled. “I must have been a little distracted.”
