“Oh, hey Z,” Easton greets me. “How was class?”

“It wasn't too bad,” I answer and sit on the arm of the chair. “You two look cozy.”

Kennedy looks over at Easton and scrunches her nose at him. He chuckles at her and kisses her quickly before turning back to the TV. The small move is enough to make her happy and she rests her head on his shoulder. Fuck, I want that.

“Are you jealous?” she teases. “I'm sure I could find someone for you to cuddle with.”

My eyes narrow on her. “That's okay.”

She hums. “Oh, right. You're taken.”

Easton perks up. “You are?”

“No,” I say at the same time she says yes.

He looks at his girlfriend, or at least I think she's his girlfriend. “How do you know this and I don't?”

She shrugs. “I've seen the two of them around.”

I don't know what this little girl is trying to pull, but she better shut her damn mouth. She might think she knows Easton, but she doesn't. If he finds out about Amelia and me, especially from her, it will be my funeral.

“It's nothing serious,” I tell him. “We're just having fun.”

He nods in understanding and pulls Kennedy closer. Just then, Amelia comes down the stairs, with a pair of sweatpants hanging low on her hips and a crop top on. She runs her fingers through her hair, and I'm completely mesmerized by the look of her. Her eyes meet mine, and she smiles.

Every word that just came out of my mouth was a lie.

This feels anything but casual.

I GATHER UP EVERYTHING we need and toss it into the trunk before getting in the car. Amelia is waiting for me at her favorite little cafe on campus. She thinks we're meeting there to grab something to eat before coming home, but I've got something else planned. Something a little more special.

Pulling up, I can see Amelia waiting at a table. She's looking down and texting on her phone, biting her lip and smiling adorably. I take a minute to just admire her until my phone vibrates in my pocket.

Amelia: Could you take any longer? I miss you.

I chuckle and don't bother answering as I get out of the car and go inside. The second she sees me, she lights up. I wink at her and go over to the counter to order our food to go, then head over to the table.

“Someone's impatient,” I tease.

She crosses her arms. “I mean, I can leave.”

“Don't you dare.”

I sit down next to her and look around to make sure there's no one we know. Then I pull her in for a long overdue kiss. This morning, I left before Easton, so I haven't been able to get my hands on her all damn day.

“I missed you too, by the way,” I whisper.

She chuckles. “Well, I'd hope so.”

A few minutes later, the lady calls my name, and I pull Amelia up with me. After grabbing our food, I start heading for the door. Amelia's brows furrow as she looks at me.

“I thought we were eating here.”

I shake my head. “I've got a better idea.”

She follows me out to the car. “If you try to eat that sub off me, we're going to have to talk. The chocolate was hot, and even the whipped cream was okay, if a little messy, but this is crossing a line.”

“Will you just get in the damn car?” I snicker and shake my head.
