CHAPTER3

Kirill

She blushed for at least the sixth time, the simple, innocent action adorable. She was a little hellion, sassing people her method of protection. Even though I’d made a bold claim, she couldn’t understand there was no protection from a man like me. I was used to rebellious women, most of them acting as if they had every right in the world to be haughty in their mannerisms, demanding in their actions. But they’d taken it to an artform, which usually bored me after ten minutes.

This girl was different, her defiance a natural protective element, although she hadn’t expected that I would open the door. It had been obvious by the flash of terror in her eyes. Yet she’d recovered quickly, another adorable trait like the way she was chewing on her lower lip, trying her best to figure me out.

To date, no one had been able to do that.

Women like this had never attracted me before, but everything about this girl was enticing. The moment she’d opened her eyes wide, I’d been lost in them. We’d instantly connected, the harsh thrash of electricity a bolt of lightning crashing down from the sky. Her eyes were luminescent, so large my cock ached even more. While mine were green, often described by other women as the perfect jewel, hers were soft in nature. More inviting. The hue reminded me of murky ocean water, only a hint of green capable of being seen from the naked eye, but the draw so powerful that I couldn’t resist swimming toward it.

Even thought she’d denied the attraction we shared, pretending she was offended by my words, I’d seen the look of desire in her eyes if only for a few seconds.

But there was no doubt in my mind that she wanted the experience of spending the night with a dangerous man.

“I know you want this,” I said with the arrogance she expected me to have.

I was grateful at that moment I’d changed into gym shorts, or my cock would be pinched in my zipper. In a few short minutes, she’d managed to awaken the savage beast inside of me.

Her mouth twisted, her eyes wild with a combination of indignation and excitement, but she couldn’t seem to find the right retort, which up to now, she’d had no problem with.

“I think you’re mistaken,” she snarked. I could tell by the flash in her eyes that she was proud of herself for finding her voice.

“How’s that?”

“I didn’t come here to…”

“To?” I encouraged.

“To be hassled by a Neanderthal.”

“Tsk. Tsk. Now you’re insulting me, and I thought we were getting along so well.”

“Then you thought wrong.”

“I’m never wrong.”

“But you’re always an asshole,” she huffed, shaking her head.

“I believe we’ve already established that, and I have no intentions of hassling you. What I have in mind is more carnal in nature.”

“You’re impossible. Insane. I don’t know you. This isn’t going to happen.”

“You seem to know me pretty well, or at least you don’t mind making rude statements.”

She was even more flustered, wiggling in my hold, which only aroused me even more.

“That’s because you make it easy to do.”

Everything about this was a bad idea.

I’d had a lot of them over the years, but this one was likely to bite me in the ass. It didn’t matter. The moment I’d opened the door and witnessed the creature standing in front of me, I’d nearly lost my mind. She was perfect, a creation sent from God himself. Very few women had caught my eye over the years, but this one had yanked at the brutal man inside of me, dragging the sadistic beast to the surface.

I’d caught a glimpse of her once before, her long sun-kissed hair swinging back and forth in a ponytail as she walked. My cock had ached then just as it did now, but I’d made it a point to stay away from temptation. If she hadn’t knocked on my door in the stark middle of the night, none of this would be happening.

Now it was too late, my hunger off the charts.

Everything about her called to me, stirring the darkness I’d attempted to shut down. Her light green eyes reminded me of early morning grass as first light shifted over the horizon but tinted with a delicious blend of fire and ice, a dangerous combination for a man like me. They stared at me with fear laced in them, but there was also a continued look of defiance. That made my balls tighten even more.
