“I got this.”
Hailey’s eyebrows nearly fly off her forehead. “You sure?”
He doesn’t bother replying before rushing off after Faith and her son. As soon as he’s out of earshot, she starts clapping and jumping up and down.
“Um, why are you acting like me right now?” I ask as I watch her dance in circles.
“Because Pops is in love.”
“Pops is in love?” I turn to Phoebe. “And I thought I was the one who leaps to conclusions.”
“No, no, no, you don’t get it.” Hailey drags me back to our booth.
Once we’re seated and the men have gone back to the pool tables, she leans forward to whisper. “I saw Faith coming out of his apartment this morning.”
“This morning? Are you sure? And why were you here this morning? Didn’t you return from your honeymoon this morning?”
She waves my questions away. “I’m sure. Do you want to hear this or not?”
I don’t believe there’s anything going on in Pops’ love life, but I am not stupid. A change of topic away from love life? Yes, please!
“Tell us everything.”
