“Instead of telling you, let me show you.”

Hunt tugged her out of the blast of water and sat down on the ledge spanning the width of the shower enclosure. Pulling her down so she straddled his thighs, he lifted his hand to her neck and pulled her head down to ravish her mouth. After a few minutes of intense, hot, skin-melting kisses, Hunt pulled back, his eyes dark with passion.

“I can’t get enough of you. I think about you constantly, especially when I shouldn’t,” he muttered, sounding annoyed. “How the hell am I going to let you go?”

Adie, knowing it was the sex talking, knowing nothing that was said when two people were naked was admissible later, didn’t answer.

Instead, she touched her lips to his jaw, dragging her mouth over his two-day stubble, up to his ear to tug his earlobe between her teeth. Hunt replied by pulling her closer, lifting her so her mound was pressed against his thick erection. Adie couldn’t help lifting her hips, sliding against him to create a little friction, sending ribbons of pleasure shooting through her system.

Hunt dipped his head to take her nipple into his mouth, his tongue rolling over her bud. He managed to walk that very fine line between pleasure and pain and Adie wanted more...

When she forgot to regulate her thoughts, sometimes she wanted everything: the good sex, the conversation, early morning coffee, making love as often as they wanted...

Now, who was letting the sex talk?

She’d been so good keeping her feelings out of it, she wouldn’t slip now, not when she was so close to leaving with her heart intact...

She knew of one way to stop thinking of Hunt in terms of forever and that was to stop thinking at all. When Hunt was inside her, rocketing her away, she thought of nothing but the pleasure they shared, the thrill they gave each other.

Impatient with herself and with him, Adie wrapped her hand around his shaft. His low growl of approval ignited her nerve endings. Without giving him time to move, or even think, she positioned herself and sank down onto him, groaning as he filled and completed her.

Adie hooked her ankles behind his back, placed her hands on his shoulders and rocked, loving the feeling of his intimate flesh connecting with hers.

“We need a condom, honey.”

But he felt so good and she didn’t want to stop. But he was right; this was how babies were made. And God knew, a baby was exactly what she didn’t need.

The image of a black-haired little girl with Hunt’s gray eyes flashed on the big screen of her mind and Adie could smell her baby girl scent, feel her soft hair and was blinded by Hunt’s smile on that pixie face. She could see the little girl, touch her, smell her...

Adie shuddered, causing desire to course through her.

Right now, she wanted Hunt’s baby. She wanted Hunt. She wanted a lifetime of sex, of sleeping beside him, of arguing about whose turn it was to make coffee. She wanted everything.

No, shedidn’t.

She was confusing lust with love, intimacy with intercourse.

Adie felt a tremor pass over her again and she moved her eyes to Hunt’s face and clocked his worried expression.

“You okay? You turned a little pale.”

Adie nodded, needing to reassure herself as much as she needed to reassure him. “I’m fine. Really.”

Hunt lifted his hips and she felt him grow bigger inside her, setting those exquisitely responsive nerve endings on fire. “God, Adie, you feel amazing. I’ll grab a condom now. I just want to enjoy you a little more.”

This was intimacy, Adie thought, this was the truth. Skin on skin, heat on heat. This was real.

Adie rode him gently, swept away by pleasure, riding a wave of need. When he demanded more, she increased her pace. She stared down into Hunt’s eyes, knowing that she’d see his face in her dreams for the rest of her life. He was going to be the man she judged all other men against and she knew, without a shadow of a doubt, they would all fall short.

Hunt wasn’t perfect, but he was perfect for her. He shouldn’t be, but he was.

Hunt gripped her chin and forced her to look at him. “Stop thinking, Adie. Whatever keeps pulling your attention away can wait. Be here, be with me.”

Adie nodded, wishing she could tell him that she was with him, that she always would be. But instead of speaking, she slammed her mouth to his, trying to pour all her regret, all her distorted, useless need for him into a kiss. Hunt’s hard, strong arms wrapped around her and he surged to his feet. Adie moaned when he slipped out of her.

Hunt carried her out of the shower and, ignoring the still pounding water, walked out of the bathroom toward his California king, tossing her onto the smooth comforter. Adie scooted up the bed as Hunt opened the drawer next to his side and pulled out a condom. He took the thin rubber from its covering and rolled it down his shaft.

Lowering himself to the bed, Hunt gently separated her thighs and looked down at her most secret spot. Instead of sliding inside, Hunt dropped his head to lick her, and then he licked her again.
