“And what’s that?”

“Just let him fuck you and remain in your job until your degree. Don’t let fear stop your fun. Enjoy life. Enjoy his penis.”

“My god, Luce, you make it sound so easy.” I giggled at her pragmatic take on fucking my boss. She did make sense, though.

But would it be just fun? If only a kiss drowned me in this much emotion, what would I be like going all the way?

Declan had a certain intensity about him. That’s why I liked him. He struck me as deep, if not mysterious at times. Mainly that preoccupied, distant gaze. I recognised it well enough. Anxiety was my middle name.

“It’s all in your head, love. He’s obviously into you. And he’s thirty-two. Make him continue to want you.”

“What’s age got to do with it?”

“Well, he must be ready to settle down,” she said.

“I don’t want to marry anyone. I’m determined to stay single.”

“You’re nuts. Marriages aren’t all fucked up.”

“Whatever. I didn’t even like men until I met Declan.”

“That’s sexist.”

“I thought sexism was more men hating women.”

“Mainly. But it’s also unfair to hate men,” she said. “I’ve met and known lots of decent men in my life. I hope to marry one. Well, maybe not so nice. I don’t mind a bit of a bad boy.” She giggled.

“Not on my watch, baby girl. Bad boys grow up to be wife beaters. Remember that.”

“It’s not so black and white, Thea. In any case, that’s our role to tame them. You know, like Beauty and the Beast.”

“But that’s a fairy tale.”

Did Declan have beast in him? That thought brought back the relentless throb in my panties.

“Whatever. I can look after myself,” she added. “And you need a little more resilience. This oversensitivity of yours is a fun thief.”

I sighed. “You’re right. As always. I love you, Luce.”

“I love you too. When are you coming to town?”

“Like real soon. I need to do some shopping for new clothes.”

“Yay. A shopping spree. Love that idea. I need your sharp eye. You’re great at second-hand.”

I laughed at her referring to our shopping at charity shops together. “I can actually buy new now.”

“Woo-hoo, look at you. All cashed up. And about to bonk a billionaire.”

A smile cracked my face. “I’m not that cashed up. But my credit cards are sad from a lack of a workout. I’m debt-free for the first time ever.” My heart sang at that admission. “And I’m not sure about fucking Declan.”

“I’ll drum some sense into that virgin brain of yours. And then you’ll see how nice penises really are.”

I thought of Declan holding his big dick.

I already know that.

“I’m lucky to have you, Luce.”

“Always here for you, babe. And remember sex is fun. It’s good for you.”

“I’ve got to finish an assignment. Speak soon. Luv ya.”

“Luv ya back.”
