She shrugged. “I’ve always had a weak spot for rugged alpha males. But don’t worry, I won’t try and jump his bones.” She giggled.
I rolled my eyes. “Carson is going to run the whole show for me. I plan to hang in the background.”
“You realise this is going to create no end of shit for you? I mean, imagine if things get stolen. The cars. The art.” She giggled as though the thought of that entertained her.
“Mother asked me to talk some sense into you.”
Carson sat down and with a wry grin commented, “Your big brother’s pretty set in his ways.”
Savanah pulled a crooked smile. “Tell me about it. He’s stubborn, all right.”
“He’s got a heart of gold. That’s all that matters.”
I returned a smile.
“I best be off, I suppose. I guess I’ll see you around,” she said to Carson.
He nodded. “Looking forward to moving close to the sea.”
“The village is sweet. A little inbred. But sweet,” she said, revealing her snobby attitude.
“Maybe my presence will add to the gene pool,” Carson said with his dry wit.
I laughed. “We’ll have to warn the girls.”
“Mm…” Savanah lifted her chin. “Oh, well, ta-ta.” She fluttered her hand and off she went.
Carson watched her leave. “She’s something else.”
I sensed mutual attraction and although that worried me, knowing Savanah and her man-eating ways, Carson was a grown man who’d had his fair share of adventure. As long as it didn’t impact on our business arrangement, I’d keep well away.
