I took a deep breath. “We’re going to be married.”
Her mouth parted. “You’re kidding. When did this happen?”
“He asked me a while back. I’ve only just answered him.”
“My god, Thea. That’s insane.” Her eyes lit up. “So is there going to be a big wedding?”
“I’m not sure. We haven’t discussed it. I don’t care. I’d marry him at the beach or the town hall.”
Her mouth turned down. “Oh, you can’t. You need a big, disgustingly rich wedding so that I can flirt with the best man.”
I laughed. “Matt?”
She pulled an excitable smile. “He is cute.”
“He’s a tall, solid guy. I’m not sure if cute’s the right description.”
“No. Ex-army. Mm… hot.”
She had that right. I thought of Declan and all those muscles on muscles, and heat travelled through my body thinking of how he felt inside of me while I gripped onto those powerful biceps.
I sighed silently. Yep, I was in the thrall of lust, but I was also in love.
Declan was there for me. I knew that he would protect me. And after the kind of life I’d had, protection meant more than pleasure. Although multiple orgasms had steadily become addictive too.
