This is how lust-drugged I was around this man, because at first, I thought he’d asked, “Do you want to see my cock?”
As Lucy sprung up with a “you bet” I snapped my dropped jaw shut, realising what he’d actually said.
Mind you, I was always keen to see his cock.
Unlike Lucy, who was as excitable as a girl being fitted for a Cinderella gown, I experienced a flurry of nerves.
Declan touched my cheek. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine. This is so unreal, and I’ve never been on a plane before.”
He gave me one of his trademark sweet smiles. “Don’t worry. We’ll be sure to make it as smooth as possible. The conditions are great for flying. No major storms ahead.”
“Show the way then, Captain.” I giggled.
Lucy had beaten me to it and was engrossed in Matt’s explanation of the flight instruments.
“I can’t believe you can operate all of this,” I said, regarding the panoply of monitors and dials.
“Yep. That’s why we joined the SAS.” Declan glanced at his friend who nodded.
He kissed me. “Enjoy the experience. I am honoured to be your first time.”
My eyebrow lifted. I leaned in close and whispered. “Another first to add to the list.”
His eyes smiled back at me.
We returned to our seats and strapped ourselves in.
Lucy held my hand as we took off, and champagne helped quell my shakes.
She pointed out the window, chatting and laughing, which took my mind off all the possible disasters my overactive imagination cooked up.
After we were in the sky and me marvelling at the clouds drifting by, I finally found a steady breath.
“Matt’s cute,” Lucy said.
“He’s lovely.”
“This is going to be amazing. Have you been studying up on your Italian?” She picked at a plate of cheese, olives, ham, and salami.
“Not really. I haven’t had time. Between shopping with you and studying for my exams, it’s been a crazy week.”
“Do you think you passed?” She munched on a cracker.
I nodded. “The practical, I’m sure I did. For the rest, I’m not sure. Next semester I have to go and do some classroom teaching.”
“Oh? In London?”
“No. I’ve requested somewhere close to the village.”
Lucy didn’t know of my decision to marry. I hadn’t even told her that Declan had proposed. A secret that had twisted me in knots. I just wanted to make sure he meant it before sharing such mind-blowing news.
“You’re really going to keep living there, then?”
I nodded with a coy smile.
Her eyebrows moved together. “Hey, what aren’t you telling me?”
