Paige was still trying to make up her mind when the news came on her TV. Paige wasn’t watching it closely, but the moment a headline came up on the screen, Paige couldn’t look away.
Exsanguination Killer Claims Another Victim.
“A body was found today in Virginia, killed in a manner that the local police are saying is consistent with notorious serial killer the Exsanguination Killer. The police aren’t releasing details at this time but say that inquiries are continuing.”
Paige wanted to know what inquiries, and even as she thought it, she knew that she had a way to find out. As an FBI agent, she could find out more. She might finally be in a position to actually learn what had happened to her father. And the best way to do that was probably from inside the BAU.
She might become an agent somewhere else, but if she was sent to a field office in another city, she wouldn’t have a chance to look into this. She had to be here, in D.C., in the BAU.
Picking up her phone, she called Agent Sauer.
“Agent Sauer? This is Paige King. I’m just calling to say… I accept.”
Whatever it took, she would find answers when it came to her father’s death.
