"This is Sara Langdon. She died probably less than an hour ago. We'll need to do a full autopsy to determine cause of death..."
"Heart failure," Paige interrupted. "Or suffocation. She died from positional asphyxia while being tortured."
The tech gave Paige a strange look, but then nodded. "We're taking samples and photographs now. We'll get them to the lab as quickly as possible and we'll know more then. But that's the preliminary."
Paige knew how she'd died, because Adam had been very detailed in his descriptions of what he'd done to his victims.
"Paige," Christopher said, looking from her to the victim. "Who is this woman?"
"I...,” Paige wracked her brain for an answer to that question, but finally had to admit the truth. “I don't know. Her name sounds familiar, but I don't know why. I don't know who she is, or why Adam did this. I was so sure that he was going to go after his uncle."
Instead, he'd gone after some woman Paige hadn’t heard of, and Paige didn't know why. In spite of the horror that she felt at being there in the middle of a crime scene, she got out her laptop. She had to check her notes. Maybe there would be some kind of answers in there.
She had to know the truth.
