“Dowe?” she asked, emphasizing the we part.
“Yes, we can’t raise a baby in here. There’s not enough room for three.” He listed his first argument. Space and their need for more. Way more.
“But where would we go?” she asked, as if the apartment had been in her family for generations, and she couldn’t imagine going anywhere.
“A house?” he asked tentatively. That was the logical place to go, but if there were other options, he was open to them.
“Do you have a house?” She moved toward the couch as she asked in case he had been hiding it from her all these months.
“No, but we would have to find one.” He followed her as she went.
“Here?” She sounded like she couldn’t even believe this was happening.
“Yes, in Landstad. We both work here.”
“Are there any?” she asked, sitting on the couch.
“I don’t know, I haven’t looked yet. But there should be something out there.”
“I enjoy living downtown. It’s fun. Short commute. I thought Noah would play with Ruth’s baby one day. I didn’t even think it was too small.” She leaned against the back cushion and looked at the ceiling.
“Don’t you feel it’s too small? Noah sleeps in the same room we eat in.” He moved toward her.
“Maybe I just haven’t gotten my bearings back after coming home. I mean, you were home weeks before me.” She looked at all the stuff.
“You’re not ready yet?” He sat on the couch beside her.
“I just need time. A lot has changed in a little time. Could we get rid of some stuff, and move in some of your stuff? For now,” she said, looking at the room around her.
“Okay, we can try. I want my clothes here. Maybe by Spring, you will be yourself.” He took her chin in his hand and kissed her lips.
Though he had only meant it to be a light kiss, she deepened it immediately and climbed onto his lap. When he slipped his hands under her shirt to cup her breasts, she moaned. “Make it quick; he’ll be up soon.”
With a growl, he pushed her away and said, “We have to stop.”
Disappointment was etched onto her face when she asked, “Why? Is it because I haven’t had real pants on all week? Is this a turn-off?” She waved her hands over her outfit that was adorable on her. More than adorable. Right down to her biting her lip.
Hating stopping her, hating the look on her face as he did it, he pulled back. “You’re perfect, Nordskov, but you wanted to talk about something. We should do that before the baby wakes up.”
“But it can wait. Talk when he is awake. Sex now.” She started to pull her shirt off over her head.
“Nordskov,” he said in a warning voice.
“Strong,” she said in the same warning voice, and her shirt came off and hit him in the face.
“Now, talk.” He held her shirt out to her, but she ignored it.
“Okay, okay.” She bit her lip and folded her arms over her bare breasts, then her eyes met his. “Tess and Math are engaged.”
“Really?” He tried to keep his eyes from her perfect breasts and failed.
“Yup, she asked him. He girlishly said yes.” Amanda laughed on his lap.
“I would girlishly say yes, too.” He tossed the shirt behind the couch. He didn’t want her to have it back anymore.
Her laughter stopped, and she looked at him. “Do you want me to ask?”
He grinned at her. “Do you want to ask?”
