“Kane, this is Alexa, my new friend I’d like you to meet.”
The man walked toward her and held his hand out. “Hello, Alexa. I’m pleased to meet you. Would you like to meet my girl, Sienna?”
She looked up at Gavin nervously, and he nodded. Gavin smiled. “I think she would enjoy that. She’s just a little nervous right now.”
Kane laughed. “All the littles are nervous when they meet each other.”
He turned around and yelled for Sienna.
A beautiful woman ran into the office from another smaller room off of it. Kane held his hand out to her. “Come here and meet a new friend, baby.”
Sienna walked over to the group, grasped Kane’s hand, and stared at her. This woman wasn’t as shy as the last one.
“What’s your name?” Sienna asked.
“My name is Alexa, and your name is Sienna?
Sienna nodded. “Yes, I’m very glad to meet you.”
“I’m glad to meet you, too.”
“I think Sienna will be good for Alexa if only she could stay out of trouble,” Kane said.
Sienna gasped and turned to him. “I can’t believe you just said that, Daddy. I’ve been good all day.”
Kane snickered. “Yes, baby, I know, but it’s not even lunchtime.”
Both men smiled, and Alexa looked up at Gavin. “What does she mean? He’s not her daddy, is he?”
“It’s something I’ll explain later,” Gavin said.
“Oh, okay.”
Siena waved. “It was very nice to meet you. I hope to see you soon.”
“I hope I get to see you soon, too,” Alexa said
Gavin led her out of that office, and they walked back to his. He shut the door and towed her over to his desk, where he sat in his chair and pulled her into his lap.
“What did you think of the girls?” he asked.
“I like them. I hope they like me.”
“Oh, honey, they can’t help but like you. You’re very sweet.”
She nodded.
He pulled her against his chest. “How about if I give you some paper and pens or pencils and you could draw the type of garden you would like? I’ll try to find some colored pencils so you can add color to it later.”
“I can draw pretty good,” she said.
“Good, then this will be easy for you.” He lifted her off his lap, handed her paper and pens, and pointed to the sofa. “Why don’t you go ahead and sit over there. You can use the sofa table to draw at. We’ll be here for a little while, and then we’ll get lunch. I’d like to introduce you to a few more people this afternoon before we go home.”
Home. She thought that was the most wonderful thing to hear.
Alexa sat on the sofa and tried to concentrate on her pictures, but her eyes kept getting drawn to Gavin. He was so masculine and handsome that she couldn’t believe he wanted to be with her. She liked watching him do everything, even talk on the phone or write on his desk.
She didn’t know how much time had passed when he stood up.
