Chapter Nine
One month later
“When’s the wedding?” Saint asked. They were in the main square of Sinners’ Corner, and Rage had just come out of the jewelry store.
“You better keep your mouth shut,” Rage said. He grabbed the ring he’d had made especially for Penny. It was a single diamond engagement ring. He’d gotten to know Penny really well, and discovered she liked the simple things. She loved the way he sat her down on the bed, and brushed her hair after a shower. Penny had written that into a story, which he loved. She liked it when he left her notes, or even texted her throughout the day.
If she was too busy to cook, he’d bring home food, which for Penny was another good point in his favor.
And tonight, after dinner, he was going to get down on one knee, and propose to her.
“What do you think she’ll say?” Saint asked.
“I’m hoping she’ll say yes to me, and not leave me hanging.”
They were in love, and he had no intention of breaking his word. They’d been together over two months now, and he knew without any doubt that he was not going to cheat on her. When they made love, fucked, had sex, whatever it was called, he was connected to her, and with far more meaning than simply his dick was inside her.
“She’ll say yes.”
“You sure?” Rage asked, suddenly doubting himself. Penny wasn’t like other women. If he got a ring near a club whore, she’d be all over him like flies around shit.
“Dude, she’s wearing your leather cut, and isn’t afraid to come around the club just to see you. The guys love the fact she brings cupcakes or cookies. She loves you, and I’ve never seen that woman looking so damned happy.” Saint pointed across the street, and Rage smiled.
It was hot outside, and she had grabbed his jacket regardless, and tied it around her waist. His name was blaringly obvious for all to see. Penny wasn’t shy about showcasing who she belonged to.
Crossing the street, he followed behind her, admiring her ass, which was covered with his jacket. Behind all the primness was a seductress that he got to see every chance they were alone.
Unable to stop himself, he wrapped his arm around her waist, and hauled her back against him. She fought him, just like he knew she would. Penny didn’t like being touched by anyone but him.
“Get the fuck off me!” She went to slam her foot down on his foot, and he dodged out of the way.
Spinning her around, he pressed her up against the wall. “Hello, beautiful.”
“Rage, you ass. I thought you were a stranger or something.”
He tucked some hair behind her ear. “I couldn’t resist seeing my little wildcat in action.
“You’ve got to be kidding me, right?”
“Nope. What are you doing in town?”
“I’m on my way to the store to pick up some groceries. What are you doing in town?”
“I have a surprise for you tonight.”
Her eyes lit up. “A surprise?”
“You got it.”
“Do I get to know what my surprise is?”
“It’s the forever kind of surprise.”
“You’re being a tease.”
“Maybe.” He tilted her head back, and claimed her lips. “Love you.”
