“Nah, we’re enjoying each other’s company. I don’t want to settle down with another man. I’ve been there, done that, and I’m so not interested in wearing the badge again.” Stacey wrinkled her nose. “So not interested in crap like that.”
Cora laughed. “I’m not asking if marriage is on the cards.”
“Nothing is on the cards other than good sex. I’m not going to do it again, Cora. I’m not going to allow myself to get lost in promises none of them can keep.” Stacey sounded sad but determined.
“It’s not always like that.”
“I don’t care. I’ve been burned once before. I’m not going to be burned again.” Stacey looked past Cora’s shoulder.
Looking in the same direction Cora saw Teri heading her way.
“Let me guess, the meatballs?” Teri asked.
“You know me so well.” She offered the other woman her best charming smile. When it came to her food, Cora was a suck up to the core.
“I’ll make sure you get plenty for you to enjoy.”
“If I loved women, I’d be asking you to marry me,” Cora said.
Teri laughed. “I’d certainly be taking you up on that offer.”
When Cora turned back toward the table, she saw James was looking at her. He wasn’t paying any attention to anyone else but her.
“He’s got a thing about you,” Stacey said.
“Nah, we’re just going to have a good time. It doesn’t mean anything.”
Stacey let it go, and Cora was thankful. She didn’t want to keep answering questions about her love life. Cora didn’t have a love life. She had a sex life, which she didn’t talk about. James was the first man she’d fucked at her home. She usually met men in clubs, and went back to their place. Cora wasn’t looking for long term. It didn’t mean anything. It didn’t have to mean anything, and Cora wasn’t about to start thinking flowers or anything like that.
She refused to be tied to a man in any way. Stacey didn’t need to know the entire details. It wasn’t like Cora was going to ask for the sordid details of her with the two men.
The rest of the meal went by without event. Teri made the most mouthwatering meatballs she’d ever put in her mouth, and the pasta was to die for. Cora loved spicy, adventurous food, but every now and then, there was nothing wrong with simple.
After lunch, she said her goodbyes to the club, climbing into her car. She’d come separately, and James had ridden on his bike.
Cora didn’t give him a look as she drove back to her home. She wasn’t surprised as he pulled in right behind her, blocking her car in. James clearly wasn’t ready for it to be over between them.
Smiling, she climbed out of her car. She was already soaking wet, and looking forward to the rest of the afternoon of fucking him. They’d only just gotten started that afternoon. If he hadn’t wanted to have another go with her, she was fine with that. Cora had never been the kind of woman who’d cry over a man. Without looking behind her, she opened her door.
James took hold of the door before she could close it. She didn’t wait around for him. Kicking off her shoes, she made her way up to her bedroom.
If they were going to talk then they were going to fuck while they did it. She was in desperate need for his cock.
On the way up the steps, she started to unbutton her dress. She loved wearing feminine dresses with the soft fabric against her body.
Dropping the dress to the floor, she stepped out of it, going to her bra. His steps followed her upstairs, and she opened her bedroom door, bending down at the bed to remove her thong.
Crawling on the bed, she heard him hiss but didn’t stop until she sat with her pillows behind her.
“I thought we were going to talk?”
“We are. I’ve found bedroom negotiations are always best if they’re in actual bed,” she said. “That way, we can fuck out our frustrations when we lose.”
He opened his belt, and Cora watched the show. James had removed his jacket, revealing those thick arms that had held her down underneath him. There really was something damn arousing about having a man who could hold her down. She’d not always fucked men with thick muscles, but James was changing her opinion rapidly.
“I don’t have any condoms,” he said.
Leaning across the bed, she opened her drawer, pulling out several foil wrapped packets. “I’ve got some myself. I’m always prepared.”
