"We don't do honorifics here, Please, call me Michael," he said.
"Oh, okay, Michael."
He nodded with a smile and got on the stairs while I followed.
"Good luck out there, Nick," Alyson said.
I mouthed a thank you.
Aria
"Who was that?" I said aloud as I sank into my chair. Beautiful eyes, beautiful hair, beautiful voice. We don't call guys like Nick Parker handsome, we call them beautiful. He was a bit feminine, like those Korean pop stars. Wait… couldn't he be actually Korean?
Sung-min Park.
That would be his Korean name. Ahhhh… And… he didn't know who I was. I got up and started pacing around. "That's strange," I thought, "How could he not
know me?" I'm Aria Wolfe. Millionaire CEO. I checked my Instagram account that morning and I have a little over 500k followers.
Ah, that's it! Instagram.
I opened my laptop and typed in Nick Parker. "Eh, so many Nick Parkers," I scrolled through and found one with his face as the profile picture. Opening it the first thing that caught my attention was his bio.
'It starts with a few settings, a click of a button, and the sound of the shutter to signal the freezing of a memory that would last a lifetime.'
Poetic and artsy... I didn't see any pictures of him but other people, scenery, and objects. He was good.
There was something about each picture that seemed to tell a story and all his captions were outstanding. He didn't have a lot of followers though. For some reason thinking about him caused a feeling in my chest. What was it? Why did I feel warm?
I minimized the tab and focused on other designs and work I had to do. My attention was divided however, part of me was seeking ways to hunt down this new member of our team, another part wanted to focus on the work at hand and the other part was trying to control the beating of my heart.
It was noon. I managed to finish half my work and decided to take a break. I stepped out of my office and headed to the design corner.
Nick was talking with a team member. It looked like the team member was giving him things to work on. When they were done talking, Nick headed over to an empty desk and settled down. He pulled out rounded glasses and put them on. The frame sat perfectly on his nose and his focus seemed to enhance. He started working his magic and honestly
I was amazed at his speed and artistic nature. I just stood there, arms crossed, smile plastered while watching him work.
I walked over to him.
"May I interrupt you?" I asked as I sat next to him.
"I didn't even have the chance to object," he laughed, "but sure I could use the company." His eyes didn't leave the computer screen.
I sat in silence and watched… he worked for a few more minutes and stopped.
"That should do it," he said as he took off his glasses then he turned to me.
"Ah, Miss Wolfe," he was visibly surprised, "When did you get here?"
This guy…
"I asked for permission to interrupt you, and you said you needed my company," I crossed my arms.
"Eh? I'm sorry… I was so focused, and I didn't notice," he said.
"No, it's alright," I said.
The place was a little hot, ah… that's right, Michael did mention it in a text that the AC would be maintained today.
