The rest of the cleaning didn’t bother me so much, and I had quickly learned I was becoming addicted to pulling that smile from her.
At least now I had other, more fun ways to get it. Kisses, touches, fast and dirty orgasms. Sometimes when I showed her affection it startled her, then she’d sink into the touch. From her reaction, it didn’t seem like she’d had a lot of casual touch from previous lovers.
My teeth ground together asthatfun thought popped into my head. I would prefer to think Vienna was untouched before me, not because that was something I craved, but because I was fucking murderous at the thought of other men having their hands on her.
For now, my current goal in life was to get her comfortable enough with me to seek my touch when she needed it. I wanted her to relax when I offered comfort and affection instead of the jerk of surprise because she didn’t expect a gentle touch. I got that she was always on her guard, given what she does, but she didn’t need to be that way with me. I’d die for her.
But how the fuck was I supposed to work on it, with Fletcher in residence, for however long?
Vienna never acted like she was ashamed of me, but she was also mostly hands off when we’d been around him before.
There was also the fact that he wanted her almost as bad as I did. Except, I needed her to breathe, and he was most likely trying to carve a notch into his bedpost. Vienna was beautiful, tough, and aloof. She was the ultimate challenge for someone like him.
I also didn’t believe for a minute that he needed to stay here. Not that I doubted he needed to lay low, only that he was capitalizing on an opportunity. My girl was just compassionate enough to want to help him.
Cue another growl.
A phone started ringing in the distance, and Vienna pulled up short. “Shit, that’s one of my work phones. I need to grab that. Direct Fletcher into the garage at the other house and bring him in once he gets here?”
“Sure,” I tried to sound upbeat, but it didn’t matter. Vienna was already halfway up the staircase to take the call. She had about five phones she operated off of. One for Fletcher. One main one that she used for almost everything, then two more. She never shared what those two were for, and I didn’t ask. The fifth had been in her office when we cleared it out and she took it upstairs, but I didn’t see what she did with it.
A quiet pounding came at the front door. Dropping the cloth in the sink, I strode to the door, peeking through the peephole to make sure it was Fletcher. It was, unfortunately. Then I swung it open.
I blinked, even as Fletcher grinned gamely at me.
He was the same Fletcher, except he was a sweaty mess and his longish hair was twisted up at all different angles. There was also a new bit of tension around his smile that hadn’t been there earlier.
“Ah, Rick. I’m starting to think there’s something between you and Drew.” Fletcher shook a finger at me.
Grunting, I stepped through the door. She must have prepped him when I was busy, because his car was running while parked on the street. “Come on, you can park over here.”
“Actually, I have some boxes in the car. Can you help me bring them in?”
I glanced back as he smoothed out some of his wayward hair. It was a wasted effort.
Holding up his hands, he skirted around me. “Okay, no worries. I can carry everything in myself. I just thought it would be quicker this way.”
“I’ll help,” I grumbled, following after him. I was trying not to be hostile to Vienna’s guest, but did he really need to stay here? With us?
When I reached the car, I rocked back on my heels. For one, the car was extremely beat up. Scratches, dents, a missing hubcap. From his fancy bachelor pad, I was shocked this was what he drove around.
Then there were the boxes. Boxes, and boxes, and boxes. And an industrial size suitcase.
“Are you moving in?” I accused, whipping my gaze to his. Some of the color drained from his face, giving me a modicum of satisfaction.
“It’s not what it looks like, okay?” He coughed out a nervous laugh and opened the back door. “You know what I do. And I needed to move out of my place, so everything that Ineedto do my job had to come with me. Well, that and I might have stopped by a storage unit and picked up some extra things. But it’s all for my work!” he swore.
Irritation sizzled through my bloodstream, but I grabbed a box from the backseat. If he wasn’t supposed to have all this stuff here, then Vienna would set him straight.
It took about ten minutes to unpack everything. I directed him toward the study for the time being. When it came to his suitcase, I walked him upstairs and placed him on the other side of my room, so I’d hear it if he tried to sneak into Vienna’s room.
That was, if she didn’t invite me to sleep with her. And I hoped like fuck she did. Especially tonight, his first night here.
“This is where you’ll sleep while you’re here,” I spoke over my shoulder as I opened the door for him. He had grunted while lugging the suitcase up the stairs. Whatever was in it, must have been some heavy stuff. I almost offered to carry it up for him. But I could wait to see how Vienna greeted him before I decided how much I wanted to push him.
He was slim, but had decent muscle definition. Just apparently not enough for the suitcase. I turned away so he didn't catch the evil smile that appeared. Maybe Vienna would want me to train him...
“Let’s go move your car. No one is out here, but it still shouldn’t be left out.”
