“Please—”
“Fuck you,” Seven growls before tossing Horatio over the balcony.
There’s a sickening crunch from below, and the room erupts into chaos again as the guests scream and scramble to get out of Seven’s way.
“Where is she? Where’s Evi?!” he roars, a flash of silver in his hands the last thing I see before our eyes meet and darkness closes in around me.
20
Seven
Istorm across the room, the scent of her blood spurring me onward as I slice my way through Horatio’s men and the clientele alike to get to her. Though I’m careful not to hurt the humans who, I have no doubt, have been forced to work here.
The rest, though, they all deserve to die.
I barely register the effort, my sights set on her and her alone … until I notice Dante.
“Dante? Wait, what theactualfuck is going on in here?” I spit, as I realize there’s another girl knelt between his legs as Evi lies motionless on the floor between Valentine’s.
Stepping closer, I twirl my blades between my fingers.
“Seven, I swear it’s not what it looks like—” Dante starts, pushing the girl away and readjusting himself as she cowers between the two chairs.
“No?” I cut him off, waving a knife in his direction. “Then tell me how this doesn’t look like you were just getting your dick sucked off by a woman who isn’t your mate. Did you justhappento trip and fall dick-first into that girl’s mouth, or were you actually trying to kill Evi?”
Valentine shifts forward in his seat, reaching for Evi, and my eyes dart to him.
“Now, Seven, you know the rules,” he warns, freezing mid-movement.
“Does it look like I give a fuck about the rules anymore? Don’t youdaretouch her again,” I hiss, stalking toward him just as I hear someone shouting for Julius from down below.
Shit, I thought I’d killed them all. If Julius sees what I did to his brother …
I continue making my way across the room toward Valentine. My fingers itch to slice his head off right here and now, but I know that’s not an option if I care to live.
My eyes drop to Evi’s tiny form crumpled on the floor, and every last drop of self-control leaves my body.
“Seven, no!” Dante shouts, but it’s already too late.
I lunge at Valentine, careful to avoid stepping on Evi as the chair crashes backward onto the floor. I cross both blades over his throat, but all he does is grin up at me.
“Give me one good reason not to cut your head off.”
“I have to admit, I didn’t expectyouto be the one who screwed everything up for Dante. Especially after all he’s done for you.”
“What are you talking about?”
Before he can answer, an anguished roar fills our ears, echoing through the building from below. The wail of anguish slowly turns from mourning to rage as it takes on a new depth.
“Seven … what the hell have you done?!” Dante breathes, rising to his feet.
“Brother!” Julius roars, and I’m forced to push myself away from Valentine as I jump to my feet. “I’ll kill them! I’ll kill them all for you!”
The whole floor shakes beneath our feet as Julius bounds up the stairs toward us.
“Dante, get Evi the fuck out of here. Now!” I shout.
“You know I can’t,” Dante says, his eyes flashing angrily, which only pisses me off even more as Julius appears at the top of the stairs.
