He drops his head.
“What is it?” I ask him.
“I told them that. They said they wouldn’t want to.”
I put my hand on his shoulder, giving it a small squeeze.
“That just means they aren’t the right friends for you, and that’s okay. You will find your people.”
“Thanks, Dad. I hope so.”
Chapter Eighteen
Lily
“Youdidwhat!”mysister says frantically as she bounces her daughter in her arms.
“I stayed over. Is it really that bad?”
“That bad? Yes, it’s that bad. You literally just made it official and y’all already started knockin’ boots!”
I giggle as I cut out the dog shaped bones from the dough. Half of my day is already gone. When I woke up, Ethan insisted on making me breakfast. Then we had a quickie on the island. Which I cleaned promptly with five antibacterial wipes. After I left his house, I went and picked up the supplies I needed and now I’m trying to get it all done.
“That was our way of making it official,” I say to her with a wink, and she rolls her eyes.
“But did you get your questions answered? Did he put your fears to rest?”
“Yes. He did. I feel much more comfortable about starting a relationship with him now.”
“Good,” she says before laying Felicity down in her playpen. I made sure my house has anything and everything Layla may need for Felicity while they visit.
“Now,” she says. “Tell me all the juicy details.”
“Ew, no! I’m not sharing my sex life with my sister.”
“Ugh, fine. Give it a star rating then.”
“Five out of five, for sure.”
I hide my face from her because I can feel the heat rising and I know my cheeks and chest are flushed.
“What about his package?”
“Layla!” I reply, slightly high pitched.
“What? It’s just girl talk.”
I lay the bone shaped cookies onto the sheet pan then turn to put them in the oven and say, “Is five the highest I can go?”
“Damn girl! That good, huh?”
“He’s pretty much flawless, from what I can tell.”
“Well, he seems to make you happy so far.”
“It’s still the beginning, it is just lust. We will see what happens.”
“Yes we will.”
