"You two did this?"
"Well, I mean, it was all Chris's idea," Troy says. "But really, Chrissy here made it come to life."
"You are all amazing." Sarah turns to her husband. "And you." she puts her finger on his chest while rising to her toes. "Will be rewarded accordingly."
Troy puts his hand in the air. "Alright, that's enough for me." He chuckles then leaves the room.
Sarah turns, walking over to me and wraps me in a hug.
"Thank you," she says.
"Anything for you, my friend."
We release each other, and I leave the room.
"Are you leaving?" I ask Troy.
"Yeah. I gotta stop by my parents’ house. You leave tomorrow?" He shoves his hands in the front pocket of his jeans.
"Yeah. We have to leave here at six in the morning."
He steps closer to me.
"Can I take you?"
"I would like that."
He looks behind me as Chris and Sarah join us.
"I'm outta here. Glad you love your room, Sarah," Troy says.
"I really do. Thank you, Troy."
Troy waves to them as he leaves but glances to me one more time. There is a sadness behind his eyes, and it causes my stomach to clench. As soon as the door shuts Sarah is by my side.
"What was that look about?" she singsongs and bumps her hip into me.
I take a deep breath and look at her, my eyebrows raise. She weaves her arm through mine and pulls me to my room.
"Tell me everything," she says.
So, I do. Everything. Even all the mind-blowing orgasms. Well, I might have left out paint night.
"So, what now?" she asks me.
"I have to go home, Sarah. I can't up and move my life like you did. I have too many attachments."
"You mean your family?"
"Yes. My family. My brother and sisters."
"Don't you think they want you to be happy too? Just like you want them to be?"
I nod my head.
"And you know, the best way you can help them is by helping yourself first."
I nod my head again.
