“I’m going to take your silence as a yes.”
“Umm.”
“Oh, come on spill it. The man is gorgeous. I can only imagine what he’s like in bed.”
“Well.” I pause, trying to think of a way to say anything about it to her. “The first couple times, he just pleased me.” My cheeks get warm, and my center gets a small tingle just thinking about it.
She gasps. “Give me all the details.”
I spill it all. From the first night we shared a room, and my shirt decided to expose me, to this last time we stayed the night together. All I got from her were small gasps or awes.
“So, what does this mean?”
“I don’t know. It’s just something fun while I am on the trip. A little extra perk.”
“Mmhmm. You keep telling yourself whatever you need to.”
“I have a life. He has a life, and he lives in Montana. Nowhere even close.”
“Montana, huh?” I can hear it when she pulls the phone away from her face, puts me on speaker, and starts typing.
“You’re googling Montana, aren’t you?”
“You know it, bitch.”
I let out a deep breath and squeeze the phone between my head and shoulder while I hang the few shirts I have. Laundry, tomorrow, has to happen.
“Umm, there’s hiking, fishing, skiing...sounds like a bomb place to live.”
“We can do all of that where we live, too.”
“Well, yeah but we have to drive hours to do most of it.”
“He does live in a little town, and the river runs through it.”
“Sounds like the start to an amazing Hallmark movie.”
I stop to gaze out of the window of my room. There isn’t much to look at. Other hotels and some places to eat. So, I look to the sky and picture myself in a place like that.
“Sarah,” I hear her faintly. “SARAH,” she says loudly, and I snap out of my daydream.
“Oh, gosh. Sorry.”
“Thinking about that bird nerd?”
“Maybe,” I say and giggle.
“I love it. You sound so happy. I’m glad you are having so much fun.”
“Thanks friend.”
“Alright. I really need to go grab some lunch and get back to work. Text me all the dirty details about anything else that happens.”
“That, I won’t be doing.”
“Fine, fine. Love ya.”
“Love you too.”
