Chapter Eight
Night:Goodmorning,beautiful.
A text from Night is the first thing I see when I tap my screen. My cheeks flare with happiness as a smile slides across my face. I don't think my ex ever texted me in the morning. Even when we were dating.
Me: Good morning!
Night: I really enjoyed our date, and I was hoping I could see you again?
Me: I did too. I would really like to meet up again.
Night: Great! The local bookstore is having an event on Saturday. There will be a few authors there for book signing, and one of them is a local romance author.
Me: That's perfect.
Night: Do you want to meet me there? It starts at six.
Me: Yeah, I can do that.
Night: I'm excited to see you again.
Me: Ditto
Me: Not to see me, but to see you, that is.
Night: lol I figured.
Night: Have a great week. See you on Saturday.
Me: You too.
I set my phone back on the nightstand, grab my pillow, and squeal into it.
"Um, you okay there?"
I whip my head around to Kelly standing in the doorway.
"Yes."
"You have that look again."
"Night asked me to go out with him again. This weekend."
"Yeah, girl! What are y'all doing?"
"He's taking me to a book signing." I hug the pillow to my chest.
"Nerds."
"Hot nerds."
"True that!" She winks at me before she walks away. "Don't forget to put lotion on your tattoos"
"Yes, mom," I yell to her.
I pad to the bathroom in socked feet, wash my hands, and apply the lotion. I usually use more of an ointment, but Kelly swears all you need is lotion, so I'll give it a try.
After I get ready for work, I check my phone one last time and see I have another text.
