Zed’s gaze searched mine, long and hard.
And then he stepped back.
And let out a slow breath.
“I need to let my wolf out,” he said, his voice short and frustrated. “Yours will be able to follow his scent trail if you need anything.”
He walked out the back door just like that, leaving me alone.
Sitting in silence.
Tears welled up in my eyes, and then dripped down my face.
