I nodded, but bit my lip.
Going up on my tiptoes, I wrapped an arm around his neck and pressed my lips to his again.
He tugged me closer, and my ass hit the awkward ridge below the door as he pressed me into it. Our mouths merged fiercely, far from the soft, sweet kiss a moment earlier. And damn, I loved it. The fire, the passion, the way he tasted…
It was all absolutely perfect.
A car pulled up to the pump parallel to ours, and honked loudly. I pulled away reluctantly, and Zed rested his forehead against mine.
“You should take the passenger seat,” I murmured to him, licking my swollen lips. “Read me the mate manual.”
His mouth curved upward, and I fought the urge to take it with mine again. “Deal.”
We stayed where we were for another moment before he finally stepped back enough to let me out. I slipped away from Zed, making my way around the truck and taking the driver’s seat.
His voice filled the air as I drove away, and even though he was talking about wolves and mates, all I could think about was the fact that he’d come in to save my ass in the gas station without me asking him to.
And the way he’d shut down my anxiety completely, without a damned shred of hesitation.
