SIX
My hungerand the fierce need to pee woke me up again a while later, but my wolf tried to fight me as soon as I tried to peel my sweaty, dirty self off of the guy next to me. So, I sighed and dropped my head back to the beefy bicep it was resting on.
Honestly, I wished the situation were awkward. If it were awkward, maybe I could talk myself out of believing the whole crazy-ass thing.
But it wasn’t awkward.
It was actually the calmest I’d felt in a long time. Maybe ever.
Despite the burning need to pee.
Elliot peeked his head into the room a few minutes later, and I waved at him. There was a blanket over mine and Zed’s sweaty bodies, which covered enough of me that I didn’t care about having another dude in the room.
He waved back, and disappeared down the stairs. When he came back a few minutes later, he had two massive plates of food in his hands. My stomach rumbled just looking at them.
Elliot set them down on the floor beside the bed, and I groaned inwardly.
I was going to have to lean away from Zed to get them, and my wolf hated it when I leaned away from Zed.
And damn, I needed to pee… but how awkward would it be to ask Elliot to haul Zed into the bathroom with me?
Elliot waved at me one last time, and I waved back to be polite before he stepped out of the room and closed the door.
I ignored my nearly-exploding bladder in favor of feeding the black hole in my stomach. Prepping to reach for the food, I hooked my foot around Zed’s thigh, and bit back a squeak when my toes brushed his balls.
Shit.
Crap.
Yikes.
It was even less smooth than I imagined, somehow.
Not the balls; the movement.
My foot dug into his thigh as I crawled to the edge of the bed, trying to retain contact while also reaching toward the plate.
The bastard chose that moment to roll closer to where I’d been—and in the process, unhooked my foot from his thigh.
I rolled right off the edge of the bed, landing head-first in my food before I flopped to the ground like a damned fish out of water.
A groan escaped me, my body tensing as I waited for my wolf to tear her way through my chest.
Instead, my gaze collided with a pair of dazed emerald eyes.
They blinked at me once, and then again.
“This isn’t what it looks like,” I defended myself, not even bothering trying to cover my tits as I grabbed the fork.
I was so damned hungry.
“So you didn’t roll off the bed, which we were apparently snuggling naked in?” Zed drawled.
Dammit.
I shoved an angry bite of food into my mouth.
Shit, the potatoes were good.
