I pressed a thumb against her puckered asshole, and her eyes flew open, clashing with mine. I thrust the fingers of my other hand into her pussy, teasing her G-spot as I swirled my thumb around her forbidden entrance.

I kept thrusting, fast and deep, my thumb breaching her puckered hole while the other worked her tight channel. The combination had her flying over the edge with a hoarse scream as she came hard, her asshole and pussy pulsing simultaneously.

I slowly removed my hand from between her thighs as she gradually came down from her high. She lay against me for several minutes, catching her breath as I smoothed my hands soothingly over her bare skin.

“Holy crap,” she finally muttered, lifting satiated eyes to mine.

I kissed her tenderly, smiling against her lips. “Yeah. What a way to wake up.”

“You sure you’ll be okay for a few days on your own?” I asked Belle as I sat at the kitchen table, my eyes glued to her gorgeous body as she cleared away the breakfast dishes.

“Of course. I have plenty to keep me occupied, including a ton of coursework to catch up on. A certain someone keeps distracting me with amazing sex,” she grinned over her shoulder at me.

Her azure eyes connected with mine, and I felt that look right down to my bones. “Come here,” I instructed, spreading my arms open wide.

Belle was in my arms in a heartbeat. I tugged her down on my lap, stroking her back as I folded her up in a tight, possessive hug. She wrapped her arms around my neck and buried her nose in my throat, inhaling deeply.

“Are you sniffing me?” I chuckled.

“Can’t help it. You smell so good, I want to make a candle out of you,” she replied, taking another deep inhale.

“Candle, huh? You have some kind of hot wax fetish you haven’t told me about?”

She pulled back to look at me. “Ooh, now there’s a thought,” she said, wagging her eyebrows suggestively.

I laughed, something I’d been doing a lot of lately. I threaded my fingers through her hair and pulled her in for my kiss. “Much as I’d love to discuss the delights of hot wax with you, I should get going.”

“Spoilsport,” she pouted as I set her on her feet and gave her ass a playful slap. “You’ll call me?” she asked, her expression unsure.

Her uncertainty tugged at my heart. “Soon as I get there,” I nodded.

“Promise me you won’t do anything stupid…if you see him, I mean,” she said, wringing her hands together.

I was traveling to Medicine Bow to meet up with Travis to discuss the cattle I was purchasing from him. I’d asked Belle to come with me, but she’d surprised me by refusing. Much as she wanted to see Molly and her other friends, she didn’t want to risk running into Robert. Her mother’s death and his treatment of them both was still too raw.

I stood and moved toward her, gathering her up in my arms. “Chances of me running into him are slim to none, sweetheart. No one’s seen him for months. The house is sold, and Cora’s lawyer hasn’t heard from him, so let’s hope he’s done us all a favor and fucked off somewhere we’ll never have to see him again.”

Belle lifted troubled blue eyes to mine. “I know all that, but if there’s even a small chance you’ll cross paths,” she paused, drawing a shaky breath, “I won’t have you ending up in jail over that asshole. I can’t…I won’t be without you, Adam.”

“Oh, I’m not going anywhere, Belle. When I get back, we’re going to talk, make plans. But just so you know, so you’re not left in any doubt about you and me, I’m in this for the long haul, sweetheart.”

Her face lit up with a smile so radiant it took my breath away. She nodded. “Okay.”

Just when I thought my heart was full, it expanded a little more. She was my wife, my woman. Our marriage may have started as one of convenience, but we were way past that now. I wanted everything with her—wanted to wake up to her beautiful smile every morning, put a baby or three in her belly, and grow old together.

I’d held her numerous times over the last month as she’d grieved the loss of her mom, and we’d grieved together for Cora. I’d shown her in every way how I felt about her. The only thing missing were the words—but I had big plans for that declaration when I got back from my trip.
