Page 13 of Rule's Exception

She’s your client. Your scared client. Keep your fucking hands to yourself.

When she comes back out though, I know that my pep talk was futile.

I’m never going to be able to resist her.

SIX

Harvie

For the firsttime in my life, I take my time as I pick out my outfit. Normally, I’m just modeling and wearing what someone else decided for me, or I’m being dressed by a stylist or maybe my manager.

Tonight, it’s about what I want to wear.

I sift through my suitcases, mulling over my options. I want to look hot, seductive even, but not like I’m trying too hard. The only problem is that I don’t really know how to go about that and I’m not sure that any of the clothes that I packed really give off that image.

I sigh as I start to dig through my pajamas. Why couldn’t I be into silk or lingerie? That would make things easier.

I land on a pair of sleep shorts and a thin tank top. This way it looks like I’m just getting ready for bed, and I’m comfortable.

I want to seduce Rule.

I want to watch him take in my curves.

I want him to want me just as badly as I want him.

I roll my shoulders back as I open the bedroom door and stride down the short hallway and into the living room. Rule is already there, sitting on the couch, the TV remote in his hand as he scrolls through the channels.

His eyes lock on me as soon as I enter the room and a thrill shoots down my spine as his eyes drop to my breasts. I’m not wearing a bra, and the smooth globes bounce and jiggle with each step.

Rule shifts on the couch, clearing his throat as he looks away, and I smile to myself. He’s tense, but he doesn’t say anything or make a move toward me. I smirk as I take a seat on the couch right next to him.

His breath catches and I bite my bottom lip to hold back my grin.

I’m having way too much fun teasing and tempting him.

“See something that you like?” I ask him and he glances over at me sharply.

“What?” he asks, his voice coming out a little hoarse.

“On TV? Did you see something that you like?”

“Oh. No, I was waiting for you.”

He glances back to the screen, and I watch him for a moment. He’s so handsome, and I wonder why he seems so alone. I’m sure that he could have any woman that he wants.

“How about this?” Rule asks.

I look over to the TV to see some nature documentary on the screen.

“Sure.”

I get settled on his couch, smiling as a baby bear chases after its mom. I grab the blanket at the end of the couch to cover up a bit and smile at him.

“Sorry for taking over your bed. Now I’m taking over the couch from you too,” I tease, passing him half of the blanket.

“It’s not a problem,” he says gruffly, and I nod, turning back to the TV.

We watch in silence as the bears start to swim across the stream. One almost doesn’t make it, and I hold my breath until he’s safely on the other side.
