I chuckle at that because I highly doubt the Alpha would have given two shits if someone laid claim to me. I get a strong sense that what Roman wants, Roman takes without apology.
“Cree just wanted your power, though. Sharing his with you was not something he was interested in. Plus, with full power share between mates there is the telepathy link. Similar to the link you have with your pack while in wolf form only you have the link with your mate even in human form.”
As we continue our stroll, I think about his words. I mean, it’s not a surprise to me that Cree didn’t want to share his power nor let me in his head, so that’s not what I’m really thinking about right now. What really has my brain short circuiting is the fact that I will be unkillable, not entirely immortal but close to it if I mate with Roman. Is that hella badass? Yes, yes, the fuck it is. But I don’t want him for that. I don’t want to just jump in for a gift that is coveted by many. This isn’t a human relationship, this shit is for life and in Roman’s case, it’s for a very long fucking life.
My kind lives long as it is, but we do age. If Roman is older than fucking Colorado yet looks like a guy in his prime, then he obviously outlives the rest. Which is bittersweet by the way. There’s just a lot to think about and I don’t have that kind of time.
As if hearing my thoughts, the school alarms start trilling through the ear, assaulting my sensitive ears. The Prospect who was guarding my door, comes running towards us.Was he still following me?
“A few of the cabins are on fire, Prez!” He yells above the ringing bells.
I look to where he’s pointing and see a cloud of black smoke billowing from the treetops. How the hell did we not see nor smell it? I don’t wait for anything else to be said, I take off running toward the smoke.
Roman’s right, I’m safer here with these people at my back. This is my home now.
