When the bell rings, he quickly gathers up his things and looks over to me. “We have until October fifteenth when we have to present. We can make the dessert the day before, and then come in before class to make the meal. I may not have ever had a poutine, but I can assume it doesn’t taste good with soggy, cold fries.”

“Ah, no it doesn't,” I laugh. He smiles at me, and it takes my breath away.

“Noah!” someone shouts from behind him. His smile slips away as he looks over to see Luke and Isaac.

“See you later, Hellfire,” he says before heading over to his friends.

Noah follows after Luke, leaving Isaac last to leave. He looks back at me, glaring at me with disdain.

I don’t know what that man's issue is with me, but he needs to get over it and see I’m not as bad as he wants me to be.

“FREEDOM!” LEO SHOUTSto the sky as we walk out of the school building.

“Leo,” I laugh as I look around, seeing everyone shooting him dirty looks.

“What?” he says, spinning around to face me. “I’m grateful for this finer education, don’t get me wrong, and the teachers are pretty chill compared to the students, but I need a break. I need this weekend.”

“I know what you mean,” I tell him, blowing out a breath.

“Hey, you two,” Penny says, coming outside behind us. “What’s the plan for tonight?”

“Well, you two go to your dorms, shower, and do whatever. I’m gonna go home and grab some things for tonight and tomorrow. I’ll meet you back here and we can get ready together.”

“You know there’s no way we can all fit in that clown car of yours,” Leo says.

“Yes, we can,” I roll my eyes. “And we need to bring it so Penny can drive herself home after the party since you and I are staying at Zed’s.”

Leo turns to Penny. “You're not drinking?”

“Umm, Pixies and alcohol don’t mix well,” she blushes. “We don’t taste it, so it goes down like juice, and it’s very easy to get lost in the amount we consume. Also, our bodies aren’t really built for it.”

“Ahhh, makes sense. But you don’t need to drink to have fun. We're fucking amazing as we are.” People mutter about Leo’s cursing, and he blows out an annoyed breath. “Come on, let’s get this night started, because if I have to go any longer without being able to just be myself, I’m gonna go crazy.”

I laugh, pulling him into my arms. “I’ll see you soon,” I tell him as he leans down to kiss me.

“I love you, my mate,” he murmurs against my lips. I sigh, leaning into his body.

“I love you, too.”

Standing there, I wait until they both disappear around the corner, watching with a smile as they laugh about whatever they’re talking about.

Turning around, I start towards my car. My smile falls when I spot the guys standing by their car with the Heathers.

Noah notices me, our eyes meeting, and I’m hit with this force that startles me. Blinking in confusion, I shake my head and meet Noah’s eyes again. His brows are pitched, like he felt what I just did.

Rubbing my arms, I ignore whatever it was and go to my car. Backing out of my parking spot, I turn and leave the parking lot. I risk casting a glance into the rearview mirror and see Noah watching me as I leave.

One thing I know for sure, is Noah isn’t as bad as I thought he was, at least not when he’s away from his friends.

“WHERE DO YOU THINKyou're going?” Isaac’s voice makes me jump after I lock my bedroom door.

“Fuck’s sake, Isaac,” I curse as I place a hand over my pounding heart. “Why do you keep coming up here? There’s no reason for you to be here.”

“I came here to tell you your mother called me and said Sunday night my and the other guys’ fathers are coming home for a few days. She wants us all to have a family supper,” he informs me, sounding like the idea of that pisses him off, and he eyes up my bag.

“Oh. Okay, yeah, I guess that’s fine. I can be back Sunday morning.”

“You're not coming home tonight?”
