“This isn’t your first year?” I ask, taking a bite of my food.

“Nope, we're all second years. We were the guinea pigs of the scholarship program. There were fifteen in total, and we’re the only ones that survived.”

“Really?”

She lets out a laugh. “Rico and Alex are mates. Rico helps keep Alex sane and see the bigger picture as to the benefits of staying.”

“And that is?” I ask out of curiosity, wondering why coming to this stuck up school would be worth it to them to endure being an outcast.

“Well, we all come from realms that you might call ‘poor’? We don’t come from a lot, and we’re all orphans. This is the best chance we have at bettering our lives. Plus, having this school's name on a job application is pretty much a guarantee for any job you apply for, Angel or not.”

“I see.” I nod. “Well, I’m glad you guys made it this far. It gives me hope.”

“We heard you were coming here. But if you don’t mind me asking, why?” She tilts her head to the side. They heard I was coming?I guess the daughter of the devil coming to a pure blood school isn’t something you can really keep under wraps. Makes sense why everyone was looking at me all day.

“I’m sure you know who I am?” They all nod. “Well, when I turn twenty-one, I’m set to rule by my father’s side. This is my one and only chance at getting out of Hell before I’m down there for all of eternity, literally.”

Angels and Demons are immortal to anyone but each other. But, that doesn't mean a final death. An Angel can kill a demon, but my dad can easily bring them back. And a demon can kill an Angel, but God can bring them back. Only catch is, when a dark angel dies, they go to Hell. So their chances of coming back are slim to none. Dark Angels might be closer to the Devil than God, but my dad still hates all angels, no matter the kind.

“But, like how did you get into this school? Are you a scholarship student too?”

“Nope,” I say, wishing that was true. “My mother is on the school board. And she's married to one of God’s right hand men. So I’m sure that helped in getting my application accepted.”

She gapes at me, and I guess that’s not really common knowledge that the wife of Michael got knocked up by Lucifer and abandoned her child at birth. “Wait, so that means Isaac is your brother?” she asks, looking behind me.

“Stepbrother,” I correct her, following her gaze.

There they are. All three guys sit at a long table, looking like gods themselves. The three girls from before are sitting next to each of them like decorative side pieces as students flock around their table like little minions.

“So, are they their girlfriends?” I ask, taking a drink of my soda. Because if so, I hope they know they have been cheated on more than I can count this summer.

“No.” Oh, well I guess- “Those are their fiancées.”

Choking on a mouthful of my drink, my eyes snap to hers, so wide I’m surprised they are not popping out of my head. “I’m sorry, what?” I rasp out, blinking at her.

“Yeah. It’s more of an arranged marriage. Pity really. Those girls really adore the guys, or maybe they just enjoy the power that being with the guys will bring to them. But those guys, there's no way they actually care about them. It’s all for show, but most people are too blind to see it. At least it is for the guys. Pure blood sticks with pure blood. They will get married, pop out a bunch of pure blood babies, and live miserably ever after. Poor Heather will grow up to hate her life.”

“Which one is Heather?” I ask, taking a bite of a fry.

“All of them,” she says, and I snort out a laugh.

“Seriously?”

“Yeah.” She giggles. “The one with blonde hair is Heather Davis. The one with brown hair is Heather Ackles, and the one with red hair is Heather Petterson.”

“Well, at least the guys won’t forget the names of their friends' girls.” I shake my head.

Penny has no idea how right she is about it being all for show, because they don’t love those girls.

I watch as they all chat, the girls finding any opportunity to touch them. Pecks on the cheeks, hands on top of theirs. And the guys give them a few seconds of their time to keep up appearances, then go back to acting like they're not even there.

As if they can sense I’m watching them, Isaac’s eyes look over, meeting mine. It’s too late to look away, he's already caught me. So I jut my chin out, daring him to do something about it.

His smirk pisses me off. He gives me a wink before going back to talking to some random guy at his table. But his Heather didn’t miss it. She glares at me, and I’m sure if it wouldn’t end up tainting their perfect, snow white wings, she would band together with the other Heathers to kill me in my sleep, and feed my body to the fishes.

I just grin back, and I can swear there is steam coming out of her ears.

Looks like I’m off to a good start at this school. Already earned myself six new enemies. But I think I just made three new friends.I hope.

“Wanna hang outside of school sometime?” I ask as we throw away our trash after lunch.

“Really?” Her eyes light up with excitement. “That would be amazing! Not that I don’t enjoy hanging out with Alex and Rico, but there's only so much kissing I can witness before my gag reflex kicks in.”

“Of course,” I laugh. “Give me your phone, I’ll put my number in.” I never had any friends other than Leo, so I think having a girlfriend would make this place a little less difficult for me.

Leo.Fuck, I miss him so much. We try to keep in touch, but the signal to Hell is crappy, so our calls have gotten cut short most times. With every passing day, I feel like a piece of me is missing. Being away from him is starting to become painful, and I don’t know if it's because of the bond we have as fated mates, or because he’s my best friend, my person, and the only one I’ve had in my entire life.

One thing I know for sure, I would give anything to have Leo here with me by my side. I’m starting to regret holding off on making the bond official. I love Leo, way more than a friend, and it’s not only because we're meant to be. And the next chance I get, I’ll tell him what I know he's been waiting to hear from me for so long.Maybe.Fuck, why does my brain have to be such a fucked up place?
