Delaney’s presence registers with me a moment before my doorbell rings, again. Before I can lift my head, Tarnley is gone, blurring across the house, and ripping the door open.
“I’m assuming you got one, too,” I hear him say as Delaney and Cole step inside.
“What the hell is this about?” Cole snaps.
I step into the foyer. “Mine had a whole list of infractions. Did yours not?”
“Oh, it did.” Delaney shoves it at me, so I unfold the paper and read her charges.
-Breaking The Accords with a forbidden relationship with the shifter, Cole Miller.
-Murder of twenty-seven supernaturals (count may change as evidence supports)
-Being an accomplice to the murder of Councilman Maxil Ross.
-Being an accomplice to the murder of Councilwoman Lucy McClough.
I re-read the last line, crumpling the paper in my attempt at maintaining my temper. “They’re trying to charge you with murdering Lucy?” I growl.
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.” Tarnley reaches for the paper, so I hand it to him.
“Cole got one, too, a close replica of my own—but also including the murder of one Delaney Astor almost three years ago.” Delaney glances up at her mate then back at me as Rainey reaches my ward line.
She doesn’t bother to knock, though, just shoves the door open and bursts inside with Elijah at her side. “I’m going to put a bullet in every single one of these fuckers.”
“Shooting at Chasin this morning did no good,” Elijah says softly.
“You shot at Chasin?”
She nods. “Fucker had it coming. Unfortunately, he managed to stop the bullets before they could enter his skull.” She pulls out a piece of paper and hands it to me.
