“What’s up?”
“I need you at Monster Mini Golf.”
“What happened?”
“Vampires attacked. One dead human, three dead vamps.” I look at Deissy who’s unconscious. “Do you know a Felix? He’s an officer here in Billings.”
“I know of him,” she explains. “He’s fairly new.”
“Find a way to bring him, too. His fiancé is here.”
“We’re on our way.” She ends the call, so I shove the phone back into my pocket and run both hands over my face.
“He was the same one who was following Winnie,” I tell her as I gesture to the vampire whose throat I ripped out.
“You’re sure?”
“He admitted as much.”
“Why are they attacking like this?”
“Because of us,” I tell her, sincerely. We knew something like this might happen given the forbidden aspect of our relationship, though honestly, I thought we’d have a bit more time.
Apparently, I was wrong.
