“The night’s not over yet, maybe you shouldn’t test fate,” Marchello says.

“They figured out who I am.” Massimo looks up at me. “What you didn’t know was that I’ve been working undercover so to speak in their syndicate to keep tabs on one of my bosses who was in charge of moving our money around, Argon, who was murdered in the Alps.”

“Oh.” I must look like I’m going to faint as Massimo stands and helps me to the chair.

Juliet comes to the table. “Hey, everyone is leaving and,” she takes in our faces, “what happened?”

“I’ll tell you later,” Dante promises.

“Let’s call it a night. What are you doing tomorrow, Massimo?” he asks us.

“Resigning.”

The men chuckle.

“Let’s meet in the morning for brunch when we’re sober and we can go over things together. I’m sure we can find this Gabriella Loren,” Francesca suggests.

“Who’s that?” I ask.

“We think she’s behind the murders of Argon and your father, we just don’t know why,” Massimo says.

“I don’t know much about the men murdered, we’re so far south. I see the news, but I don’t know Argon except he worked for Massimo.”

“He was also Prende’s dad,” Massimo states.

“Oh, I’m sorry, Prende, you’re married to Marchello?”

“Crazy, but true. Long story.” She smiles as she cuddles up to her husband sitting at the round table.

“We need to know who would want to sabotage Dante’s wedding. I mean, maybe Argon’s murder was an outlier. A crime of opportunity? Or just to make Dante look guilty before the bigger kill? She might be using Argon’s murder to cover up the real reason for the second murder,” Francesca thinks out loud.

“Who would want you to not be married?” I ask.

All eyes at the table focus on me.

“No idea. My father’s dead and my mother was unknown, presumed dead. I was adopted,” Juliet states, “but my adoptive parents don’t know I know.”

“Seems to be a trend of that, I only found out myself that my dad adopted me.”

“Yeah, we need more alcohol or sleep,” Sal states. “My head is swimming.”

“It’s a good question.” Dante speaks at last as he runs his hand over his chin in thought. “We never locked down where Juliet’s mother is buried, but that was what we were led to believe. Besides, why would she hide all these years and surface now?”

“Because she can, maybe the reason she hid has been removed.”

“I’ll ponder that, it’s a new perspective.” Dante stands. “Until morning then.” He gives Massimo a hug.

This is huge coming from him. Massimo is accepted.

We all say our good nights and we head back to our little house for the night.

By the time we get to bed I ask Massimo for what all transpired at the table.

Now that all the secrets are out, we might be able to work together to find out who killed my papa.

Massimo’s phone dings.

“Ugh. I don’t want to work.”
